here's mine, i took a grant steering wheel from any auto parts stor and snazzed it up a little. painted it gunmetal grey and attached a round camaro keychain painted the same color to the horn. i like it looks custom but not to wild and in my opinion thirdgen camaros steering wheels were hideous. hope this helps

Well since my car is an 82 I don't have a stock airbag, otherwise I don't think I'd mess with it either. That is a nice looking wheel wilddog...did you use car paint or spray paint to make it that color...I really like the way that looks.

They ran me about $425. I'm redoing the panel because some of the gauges are hard to see when I'm driving. I may go with a gauge pod for 2 or 3 of them.

I here the air bags in our cars suck pretty bad and you are probably safer without them. Personally, I'm a fan of the Momo figher wheel and the flame design Blue502 posted.

Yeah, I've heard that the airbags are pretty bad as well. They are first generation airbags which means they come out at at the same speed regardless of the speed of the car at impact. If you sustain injuries in a crash that the airbag could have supposedly prevented though the insurance companies won't pay for your medical expenses. I hate the fact that every time I go to blow the horn I end up punching the airbag twice before realizing that I have to press those two iddy biddy thumb tabs on the side that only work 20% of the time. My plan is to try to get a steering wheel out of an 87 or 88 to put in there as well as a guage cluster if I can get it to work. That way it will all look stock... just slightly older.

I was in the market for a steering wheel myself. I have been looking at that same Grant steering wheel and wondered how it looked installed. After seeing it, I'll be getting one next week.

BTW - I say keep the stickers!

ahh the infamous cupholder. believe it or not it's a rice burner cupholder. it actually says type s on the side lol. i got it from Advanced Auto Parts in the ***** section(just be quick and don't let anyone see you). it was silver. i took my console out, traced the cupholder and used a little saw to cut the hole. then used textured black paint from lowes to match the interior. lemme know if you have any questions, pretty easy to do and looks great.

Ahh crap, you don't have power windows. The switches for pwr windows are right where that cupholder is. I have a cupholder, its right behind the center console, but its kinda hard to put it there and drive. It's one of those Spillmaster cupholders that are adjustable. I like yours though.

I just repainted mine kinda silver, it was black. I left the horn button the way it was after I took the wire wheel to it. Kinda looks good, I dunno.

That looks like one of my Camaro keychains. Was it originally a sort of bronze color? Lol. I have a different Camaro keychain for each set of keys that I have (4 sets).

yup Jza a little bronze camaro keychain. it just happened to be the exact size of the "GT" logo on the wheel. i like the steering wheel but not the logo so i cut the chain off the camaro keychain glued ithe camaro logo on and painted it. :lala:

Does any body know where I can find a 6 bolt wheel adapter for our cars? It seems like everyone has the Grant 5 bolt patterns. Even Summit couldn't help.

Yes, they usually come with provisions for the horn. The quality of it is going to depend on the wheel though... ahem.

I went to mcdonalds tonight and got a meal and a McFlurry. So I had a soda and a mcflurry, I had the soda between my legs and i was holding the mcflurry in my left hand (yeah..its a 5 speed ). Then a ***** gets next to me at a light and revs his engine. I had my hands full and I couldn't do anything....If I had the cupholder that would not have happened!!!!!!

I have power windows, but heres the solution. Route the switch to the sides of the console on each side...then make a cutout for a cupholder.
OR
use 1/3 of the console box to jerry-rig a cupholder into it. The only thing is that if you are drinking you need to have the lid open.

I would say they were trying to be true to the old hot rod ideals of speed and function over creature comforts and luxuries, but if that were the case then AC, power windows, power doors, rear window defogger, power mirrors, etc would have never been available as options.

I would just pull it back down into the steering column in case they give you **** about it come inspection time... you could just hook everything right back up.

Thanks for the advice, its what I should have done. (I've already sporked up). I started by dissconnecting everything, removing the coil in the steering column, and taking the yellow shroud off the little black plastic plug at the end (where it hooks to the comp). Then tried to pull the wire up through the column....

It stuck halfway in...

after fighting with the dangling coil for over an hour, I finally just snatched it out, so I've got a broken SIR plug halfway inside my steering column...

On the upside, the wheel fits now

ok just to clear this up the cupholder is not in the place of the clock i never had one, i know the clock was an option, but not for me. i made the cupholder. second the motor IS an l98 350 i put in the car and used the original 305 TBI with 350 chevy truck injectors, and it serves me well to lay some thick *** rubber. to see more info of what's done to the car go to www.hotrod-hell.com, it's my buddy's car enthusiast page, check it out.
