Will this shift **** work??

I really like the looks of this shift ****. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1838061749 I am wondering if it will work in my car. In the description it says "Not for use with cars that have an over-drive button" Whats that mean? Will this work in my car? Thanks for any help.

An "overdrive" button is just that. It is on the side (usually) of the ****, and you push it in to make the tranny be able to shift into o/d.

A T/a (or firebird) shifter will not work properly on a camaro. The OD has no affect on operation.

How do I know?.. I tried to put that same handle on my camaro shifter.... (they sell them at pep boys for $19.95)

I don't know the particulars as to the difference between the bird & the camaro shifter aside from the nylon piece in the ****er shaft but, I do know that that handle it styuled after the 'bird shifter handle & will not work on the camaro style (the ball with the button on the top) type shifter.

I swaped out the entire shifter from a bird to my camaro for $5 because I like the T-style much better than the OEM camaro design.

How hard was it to swap the shifter from your bird? And does anyone know of any other shift ***** that will fit the camaro shifter? Thanks for the help.

The shifter came from a u-pull yard, it was 4 bolts that hold it to the trans tunnel (after removing the top of the console of course), the shifter cable clip & the neutral safety switch, about 30-60mins total depending on your lazy factor.

alright...i dont know, but i was able to get both a firebird shifter and a carmaro shifter to alter the shifter handles. i have a 92 camaro shifter and installed the handle *and the little plastic slider that goes inside the shifter* from the 92 camaro into the 89 firebird. it works just fine and i have no problems with it. the firebird handle is now on the camaro shifter, and also works no problem.

As far as the shifter in question, it looks like it would fit, but like stated earlier i would not put that in my car. Also, you might just be better off looking at pepboys. or autozone for one, and be able to return it if the shifter doesn't fit.

I just installed the shifter from a '99 Saturn SL2 in my '92 RS. Looks a lot like the firebird one. Looks great and much easier on the hand. It was $17.65 with tax from the local dealer.
