Hey guys, I am about to purchase some new rims for my 02 TA and want to put my chrome 16's on my Formula. I know spacers/adapters are needed to do this. I have a couple questions. First off, what do they run price wise? Secondly, are these things safe, will I be sacrificing strength by using them? Also, where can I find them?

Sorry for all the questions. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Price wise you are looking at $280 - $350 for a set of four.

Strength wise they will be ok for a stock or near stock car. With a heavily modified car, the rear spacers could fail with a high torque application. Some 3rd gen owners prefer to swap in a 4th gen rear end. This eliminates the use of rear spacers and usually nets a set of disc brakes.

yeh im looking to do the same thing becuase i dont like the stock aluminum rims to much are the spacers expensive? i think i can save up the money for the rims if i can work around ill be getting my license in 4 month.

I've got spacers on my front wheels, had ones on my rear until I got my 4th gen rear. I bought mine from VetteBrakes for $353 shipped for 4 spacers, 2.25". I purchased 4 front wheel spacers since I knew I was going to sell a pair when I got my rear, and I figured it would be easier to sell a front pair than a rear pair, which it was. I ended up selling my extra set of 4th gen wheels and the front spacers to a friend of mine when he bought a 4th gen rear.

Oh, and I am having a friend look into seeing how much it would cost to make those spacers. If the cost isn't too much, I'll be able to offer them at prices lower than Skulte and Vette Brakes.

I have 9.5 SS wheels on all four corners and got my spacers from Andris @ www.skulte.com. The fronts are 2.25 inces and the rears are 1.25. Here is a pic........

got mine from him too! They were a little over $300-325. Does anyone know how strong they truely are? What are they able to take? thanks

I picked up similar billet adapters from andris at www.skulte.com for my C5 rims.



Andris has a user here on the boards "askulte" . Send him a message or go to the site and e-mail him, he will make sure you have the right adapters for the job. I have a heavily modded car, and have not had any problems with them thus far. I think he has some of these billets on his twin turbo IROC, ask him about it.

Hey guys! Size wise, I'd recommend the 2" thick adapters front/rear (or none for the rear if you've got a 4th gen rear-end). For the strength, we haven't had any problems at all. I've torn my driveshaft in half, bent a different driveshaft, bent a torque arm, and snapped a torque arm. The billet adapters took it all in stride. We've got a few extreme 4x4 folks running the adapters, as well as myself road & drag racing on them. The way they're designed, they're built stronger than your GM hubs. We machine ours for self centering lugnuts, so they'll bolt on-center much better than the VB adapters w/ the shank style lugnuts & washers (IMHO, of course).

Thanks for the reply Andris. I am a little more assured now! I'll just keep using the air gun on them too so i know that they are on there as tight as could be. Come to think of it, i have yet to hear a story where someone has broken them or had them come off.

I would have to agree with Andris. Though I no longer run wheels spacers when drag racing, they with stood a whole days worth of 1.60 60fts. I was very impressed!!!
