well i'm going to tell you bluntly that a 5" cowl is way to extreme for a street car and rediculous if you don't have the power to back it up.

between the options i'd say ss or cowl as the other is meant for a bird. while i know they make it for the camaro it does not flow with the cars lines in anyway possible and will hurt you in any shows or possible magazine coverage.

with that said i will also warn you about the actual process of getting the hood and fixing the hood. i have yet to see a fiberglass hood for our cars that didn't need work to fit properly and in most cases it takes alot of work to make it look really good. if your just building a race car and don't care about making it pretty i suppose it's of no bother but a good explanation of the amount i spent on mine should give you a good idea.

i have roughly 20 hours in fixing my hood and painting it, 5 of which is beyond normal for show purposes but the rest was just to make it look decent. it still isn't perfect which i'm not happy about but that's the manufacturers fault in the mold process. i would really like to know how some of these guys afford these hoods as i was lucky to get a discount on most of it along with the work i did but if i had to pay the right amount for everything i'd have almost 2500 in just a hood which is insane.

well either way good luck with your choice.

Hell ya 5 inch cowl is rediculous. I have a bit of trouble seeing over my stock one sometimes. Not anything to complain about but 5 inches seems a bit overdone. Wouldnt a ram air setup work better than cowl anyway? I wouldnt go for the firebird one though. Wouldnt look right.

the problem with "ram" air is that you have to be going fast enough to actually take advantage of it. purchase one of these hoods knowing that it will take a bit of work to make it look right, the only true performance you'll see is how much easier it is to open it and it will set your car apart from your neighbors.

Unless you really need the hood clearance i would go with a 3inch cowl or less. I have a 4 inch cowl on mine and its hard as hell to see the whole road, but on the other hand it gives it a mean apperance, if only I had some mean power to go with the look.

Depends on what u are going for, personally I would have to say the 3'' cowl. but only if it's cervini or glasstek hood though. the Harwood one I hear is ***.

i personally like my 4inch glasstek, although if it was for a bird i really like glasstek's 3 inch cowl.....follows the lines quite nicely. and yes i know that side pic in my cardomain site shows the hood a little taller on the fender. that is just placing the hood on the car and shows initial fitment....which looks surprisingly better than any other hood i've seen....not to mention the pins aren't in the hood yet to pull it down on that side closer to the fender....with the pins in....it fits perfect.
