Priming/body work/filler questions
I've got the car stripped to bare metal (because the paint was crcked) and ready to prime (will use PPG products) and do small amount of body work. I have a few questions
1. I'd like to use an etching primer. How many quarts will cover the whole body if sprayed with a conventional gun? Will 2 quarts of primer with 2 quarts of catalyst be enough to give a couple of coats or do I need closer to 3 or 4 quarts (plus the equivalent amount of catalyst)?
2. I want to use a bit of evercoat filler. I understand this can be done on bare metal or on a primer, but not directly on or under an etching primer. Would you spray the etch, then an epoxy, then filler body work, then a surfacing primer (block, block, block) then topcoat? Or should I put the filler on bare metal, spot cover the filler with epoxy primer then hit all remaining bare metal with etching primer (then surfacing primer, etc)?
3. Before I primer, I was going to give the car a once over with a finishing sander loaded with 80 grit. Then Acryliclean, then shoot it. Sound ok. If I chose to put filler on bare metal should I rough it up with a coarser grit like 36?
4. What is the best cleaner to use right before priming/painting? I've got Acryliclean. Is that a good final solvent or do I need something else?
Thanks in advance.

Is it evercoat glaze or evercoat bondo. With the glaze u can go over primer or bare metal. If it was me i would do the body work than etch primer (1 should be enuff) I hve allways gone over my bondo work with the etching primer.I don't know if this is right or not but the first car i painted the 2nd time i sanded it down the paint allmost just feel off.I would use 320 for the last sanding and i allways use painters pride pre cleaner.

I meant the evercoat version of bondo. Just a few shallow dings. I guess that I've heard the acid etch primers don't mix well with fillers. Just wanted to see what people thought of that.
