? for those who've painted their cars.

I have the gfx off my car right now and i'm planning on painting it this winter. Is it better to put them on before i paint or should they be left off and painted seperatly? Thanks for the help.

in all honesty, its probably easier if you prime/paint them while they are off the car. but its totally up to you...if you do them while they are on the car, be sure to get over spray unless you are really good with a gun.

OOps sorry bout the double post. Anyways if you do a search you will find all the advice you need here. It is cleaner and higher quality to pinat all the pieces separate though.

Agreed-

If you were to paint with the ground effects on the car....all of the lines would be filled with paint....and that would look like crap

A good friend of mine paints cars (he did the bird on my hood) and he always tears things like that off then paints them. It's just easier!!![URL=http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/659012]

hey guys, I already took down my gfx for painting, but I am not sure about the other removable body pieces (i.e. doors, fenders, nose piece, hood, rear bumper...) Should those be removed as well? or is it better to paint them on the car?

yes you should remove those as well. Usually you remove fenders/hood / Doors and bumpers. Good idea to do so. It will be much neater and easier. You really should never paint thos things when there on a car. YOu have to strip everything pretty much. Hope this Helps

never strip that doors and fenders and stuff if you painting metalic, perals , or kancy paints they will not match up again the paint will look diffrnet panel to panel. if you painting straight color base clear or one step it is ok to strip. you have to strip if our changing colors also.

I paint cars on the side and as far as ground effects go paitn them seperatly jus make sure to use the same cup of paint in ur gunto insure match as far as doors and fenders go i alwasy cut them in and paint them on the car to ensure color match cause even with solid base coats u can get color variances

When I painted my car I removed: Front & rear bumper covers, ground effects, hood louvers, door handles, locks, tail lights, mirrors, spoiler, headlight bar with lights, side marker lights, weather stripping, weather strip retainers, T top T bar...basically anything that could be removed, except the hood, doors and fenders.
