Anyone know where I can get this? 160Mph dual needle model (pic is of the original out of my 84' Camaro, now sitting in brother-in-laws firebird, and no, he won't part with it)

That is probably an aftermarket item and would be a hard item to find now. I know T/A Specialities and Mecham Pontiac made 160 and 170MPH speedometers for early 80's Firebirds.

Just like the 1980s, the companies that made parts like that are long gone.

Those are stock peices. I've read about them, but never seen them. Pretty kickass! Did you go to a GM dealership and get the price and part#? That's where I'd go first.

Directions = right next door to me. He's actually dropping a 400 small block in it as I type this.

He has to take his dash pad off, maybe I can convince him to pull the panel out for a minute to check the numbers. (On the back I assume).

It's the first I have seen that goes to 160 and dual needle. If I had bought the car a couple of weeks earlier, it would have still been in. I may just have to find a 85mph unit for now. I have the one out of his firebird (had to trim an ear off) but it doesn't work. I guess that explains why he took the speedo out of the camaro.

Someone also e-mailed me an address to West L.A Automotive Center, Inc. They charge $175.00 to $235.00 + $9.95 for shipping with a one week turn-around.

They can reface & recalibrate your existing speedo. I don't know how good of a job they do, but offer a one-year warranty.

www.speedometerplus.com

Not quite what I'm looking for, but hey...

i would hope the warranty is on the workmanship and not the accuracy of the unit.

"after one year, you speedo will start going off 3mph per month."

By that math, if I still had the original speedo in there;

21 years - 1 =20
20 years x 12 months = 240
240 months x 3mph = 720mph

I would need my speedo to register 770Mph just to be going 50 Mph.
