Does anybody know where I can get brackets for the rocker panel ground effects? The parts I need bolt to the fender just behind the front wheel, and the ground effect slides over the top of them. Mine are rusted pretty bad... it's a fairly simple piece and I can fab my own if necessary, but my welding skills aren't great. Besides, the originals were galvanized, so anything I make probably wouldn't last as long. The part #s are 10051227 and 10051228.

Made the ones I couldn't find in the j/y out of some aluminium flat sotck and ¼-20 flathead screws. No welding involved.
You do need a countersink though.

That's a good idea, but how did u keep the bolts attached to the aluminum? I know u said to countersink them, but how do u keep them from spinning when u bolt it on? How does the aluminum stand up to corrosion? Keep in mind I live in MI and my car may see some joyriding in the winter. Can't beat power sliding in the snow

When you countersink the alum to flush the screw heads, the countersink will 'grab' once you start geting it tightened down.
If you use 1/8" or so alum stock, when you 'snap' the retainer + screws in place, they should stay as it's a fairly tight squeeze.

Alum holds to weathering pretty good.. think of all the non sheltered aluminium storefronts you walk through everyday that have been around for longer than alot of members here have been alive.

If you are really worried about it it, a quick coat of clear or any other gloss paint laying around will add some element protection.

You could also use stainless if you have access to such material... no worries with that.

Thanx for the diagram... now I see what u'r saying about the countersink holding the screw. It will probably be a week or 2 till I get to this (car just came back from the paint shop, so I got plenty of other things to take care of) but I'll let u know how it turns out...
