i bought a 3inch harwood cowl hood which was originally a pin on, but i wanted a bolt on, the person i bought it from had the frame to bond to the hood so i could bolt it on, he said the only thing i would have to do is bond them together... and that bonding agent can be purchased from harwood by just calling them... i just called them and the guy said that they dont sell that kind of stuff because they use it for themselves and purchase in large quantities and stuff.. soo.. does anyone know where i can get a bonding agent for this? both peices are fiberglass.. and if this is in the wrong thread it can be moved.. wasnt sure where to put it

Fiberglass hood and scoop?
That can be done very easily...
3M rigid/smc repair, sold at any autobody supply store. You need a special gun though. Evercoat sells a plastic rigid repair that utilizes a regular caulk-type gun, with special mixer tips. Supposed to be less expensive as well, but I have never used it.
If you are running a metal hood and a fiberglass scoop, you are S.O.L.

its not a scoop.. its just the fiberglasss frame and the fiberglass hood.. so fiberglass to be bonded together.. so i assume id use what you said?

thats what im asking i thought about it.. im not sure if you can do that or not.. i dont no that much about fiberglassing and stuff.. i was just told that theres a bonding agent that bonds them together.. so i figured id get that.. but if fiberglassing works id much rather do that

yes they have stuff called multi-bond. its made to bond 2 pieces of glass 2gether. i dunno if you have a marine supply store around ya. i use to build boats so i know what the guy who sold it to ya is talking about. best bet is to find a boat builder near buy and see if ya can buy some off them.

Seriously, The process is the same...Same materials. probably a lot cheaper than a 5 gal pail of resin.

its not resin its a bonding agent thats catylized with bpo( cream hardener ). it is made with resin though. to buy a quart of vinyl ester resin and glass to do that will be costly also.

resin- $25 a quart. not bondo resin from a hardware store.
glass- varies on oz.

bandit if theres no multibond look for poly bond. i cant find anything online sorry

im still gonna check around for mutlibond at boat places.. but ill look for poly bond too thanks

i see a lot of stuff about poly bond about using it with concrete.. im assuming you used it before and no it works and everything? not that i dont trust you or anything.. just want to do this right the first time so i wouldnt have to do it again

ive used it all man. i use to build boats. diff manafactures use the same name. there is also a thinset mortar called multi bond. hit up a boat builder they should have something similar if not the same name

alright thanks i will.. wasnt doubtin you or anything just saw a lot of stuff about concrete.. im gonna try and find a boat builder .. maybe a marina or sometin i dunno but thanks for tellin me what to use
