Black or Matte finish???

Guys, (I posted this to the wrong forum, so I am re-posting it here)

I am painting the accents on my car (an 87 IROC Z/28) as flat black or matte black finish to go with the Atomic Orange Metallic exterior. I think the brightness of Orange and flat black will be a good contrast and look good.

As I paint hood lovers, rear effects etc, i would like to clearcoat OVER the flat color. I don't know if this would be a "satin clearcoat", or something else.

Can anybody recommend a clearcoat that will work well OVER a flat or matte trim accent?

(and yes, i am doing the trim pieces via rattlecan -- so let's keep it reasonable), the big money is going into the body getting painted.

Brian

Kinda like this??

There's a Krylon labeled semi flat (I think), it's pretty good. If you use about 6 even coats, it'll look really good.

Thanks for the pointer, i'll look for some krylon and see what I can find. As far as the picture goes, my orange is a little lighter and i'm only doing the hood louvers, front grill and ram air intake and rear taillight trim in flat black. I think it'll look nice.

Re: Black or Matte finish???

post pics!... sounds like a cool combo and may give me some ideas as paint time approaches (although I'm leaning more to the gloss black/orange stripes scheme)
