Can anyone with a stock height car, stock size tires, tell me the "ground clearance" of the stock air deflector?

And while you got the measuring tape out, what's the distance from the ground to the lowest point on the bottom of the rocker? TIA

Nobody has a stock car anymore? I'ld like the measurements to compare against a new rule for the class that I'm running in.

The airdam on mine measures about 7.5" above the ground.

And my car's rocker height(a Formula, no gfx), is about 8" above the ground.

Well my car 89 camaro w/gfx is all stock in the front still. The front bumber is about 9in off of the ground so the airdam has to be pretty low i hit it on everything. When im flying around on the roads that arnt smooth.

Here's mine. It's a totally stock '89 IrocZ (even has original OEM Goodyear Eagle GS-C 245/50/ZR16 tires and wheels). Every part is original. But it's also a vert. You might have different options but here's what mine mearures . . .
Front bumper to ground (front tip) - 8 1/2"
Air damn (lowest middle point) - 3 5/8" (I can't imagine 7.5", that's like a truck!)
Rocker panel (lowest part under door, the low black part underneath the painted body) - 6 1/8"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you define the bottom of the rocker the same as the bottom of the GFX?

Here's the rules I'm wondering about...
8.5.5. No body component, including the front air dam (spoiler) or lower radiator deflector, shall be lower than 4” measured vertically from the ground.

8.36.1. Minimum ride height is 4.5", to be measured at the lowest point of the rocker panel, but not to include welded seams, floor pan “bumps”, or fasteners.

Mine currently measures 4 3/4" to the bottom of the rocker GFX. 2" to the stock air deflector.

Actually, the front centermost point does dip down to 6.5". The rest of it sits at 7.5". But the rest of the car sits at just about 8" along the entire rocker length(remember, no gfx to make it appear lower). And being the original owner of this car, I can say with 100% certainty that its WS6 springs are original. So even after 20 years, that's how high the car sits.

I think, but I'm not sure, that 'verts sit lower. At least, everyone I've seen seems to look lower. And I know my own 'vert sits lower than my Formula.

But regarding the airdam on the Formula(and base birds), it's a very "thin" or shallow one. It doesn't reach down very low, which is prolly why is sits so much higher than Camaros.

My truck sits much higher, lol.

OK, gotchya. I didn't know that there was that big of air-deflector difference between us F-body brothers.

What rules are you referring to? I guess you could always get a 2nd air deflector (keep your original) and trim a little off. (?)

Yup, based on our two data points, there looks to be about a 2.5"-2.75" difference between the rocker and deflector on our cars.

Guess there's at least 2 different versions of deflectors. Wonder if it's based on if you orig had gfx vs not or camaro vs firebird or year models or ???

Looks like my options are to raise the car 2" Trim the existing airdam (I gots a spare) and hope it stays cool or convert to a front breather and fab an air box $$.
