ENAMEL or URETHANE ??????

I am about to repaint my 1985 Trans Am.

I'm not sure whether to use Catalyzed Enamel or Polyurethane with a clear coat.

FACTORS:

1) COST - I own a small business and have a mortgage. With Obama's plans to tax small business and middle class people like me, saving every penny is a concern for me.

2) GARAGED - This car will not be exposed to the elements and will be covered at all times

3) PRIMER - No matter which paint is used, the car will be properly stripped and primed.

4) USE - This is my personal project car that I'll probably flip for another project car down the road. So while I do want it to look good now & for a future sale, this will never be a Concourse Show Car.

So Enamel or Urethane? Or is there another option I don't know about?

THANKS!!!

If you're going thru the work to properly prepare it for paint I wouldn't put anything but base/clear urethane on it. It may cost a little more but it should look better and add to the resale value if your future buyer knows anything about anything.

Thats the way I went with my 2nd Gen, base, clear coat (BASF). It does cost more and a little more work but what the heck if your going to be stripping the thing down, mind as well take the extra step

Definitely go urethane base/clear. Looks way better and lasts longer and is easier to use than most other paint systems. It might cost you a whole $50 more but will be worth the extra few dollars in the end.
