Door Trim
Does anyone know how to remove the trim on the middle of the outside of doors? I figure that they are either held on with glue or bolted.

Re: Door Trim
The body side moldings are held on with some kind of adhesive. A heat gun might come in handy. Keep in mind the area underneath the moldings may be riddled with little dents from door dings (atleast mine was).

Re: Door Trim
Thanks for the info. That is what I was thinking but I did not want to go at it with a heat gun if they were bolted on.

Re: Door Trim
there is adhesive remover you can buy from autoparts stores that you squirt on there and it dissolves the glue...

Re: Door Trim
All of the OEM door bumpers are peel and stick. It was VERY popular in the 80's to remove the stock pieces and have aftermarket replacements installed. Some of the aftermarket replacements have a steel channel that's riveted to the door every 6" or so, then a rubber strip is slipped into the channel.
The stock ones can be removed just gently peeling them back off, but they'll probably leave a mess of very sticky durable molding tape. The aftermarket parts will have to have the rivets drilled out, and they might have to be peeled off too.
