I'm talking about the hard plastic or rubber trim that goes over the edges of the glass on the fore, aft and inboard edges of the glass itself on each T-Top.

Other than cosmetic and perhaps protecting the edge during handling and usage - do they perform any other function? Help somehow with sealing? or snug fitment?

Otherwise I'm leaning towards completely removing mine and being done with it. (I never take the T-Tops off)

Some years had the edge and others didn't. I don't know if there was a difference in the glass edge itself over the years. My 87 doesn't have the edge protectors, yet my dad's 82 does. Again, the glass could be different. The edges of mine are slightly rounded so that there isn't a sharp edge. A slight impact on the edge of the glass could cause them to shatter.

My C&C t-tops don't have any trim around the glass. I wouldn't imagine it makes much difference, just have to be careful when handling them.

Isn't it true some ttops are actually glass and some are plastic?
I figure my ttops on the 91 RS are plastic
it is interesting how they appear from the inside of the car
as shattered when the outside temperature is hot
also isn't it true that it is recommended not to tint ttops
because the tint will keep heat from being displaced and
may actually shatter the glass/plastic?

My 92 leaks water like crazy without them. Wish I knew where to buy new ones. I try that plastic door trim they use for the sides of doors but the glue sucks on it and it always falls off from warm temperatures of the summer.
