Yeah, I agree. It really looks and sounds like a parts car to me. By the time you get done with the 1/4's/trunk/floors you'll be in the hole a few grand JUST to get the car in workable shape. Let it go.

Re: is it worth it?

I agree - Don't bother with it. I see cars like this all the time that people have just damn near destroyed and still want $$ for it.

I know of a 1985 Z28 here in Knoxville, TN for $500 (probably could get it for $400). Its got no engine bay wiring, motor, or trans, has minor damage and a complete interior. If you want a good base, this could be it, but the one pictured above is too far gone; simply not worth it.

If you want more info on the other car:

http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/1712134123.html

I have personally looked at it and the only rust repair area would be the driver side floor - Theres a spot about silver dollar size where you can feel the backside of the carpet through the floor. The car was hit in the front at one point and could use a new lower core support (currently usable, just not pretty) and the bar that attaches the lower support to the upper support.

Re: is it worth it?

Last winter in rochester MN there was a guy who had a 1989 camaro RS parts car for $500. I emailed him about it and he said it was complete except that the interior was taken out of it but he said I could have it and it was about 90% there. He also said about the only usable body panels were the upper rear quarters, the best part was he said since it's winter I dropped the price to $150. So I agree a better deal will come around. If anyone wants more info on this car I can try to find his email just let me know.

PS- To all those across the land fixing rust buckets.....stop. It's a third gen. It's not rare, it's not a muscle car. Rust free cars are still out there. Clean and complete. Go find them!!

To this guy.....look, opinions we all have'em, but preaching to people who want to preserve a car, beloved third-gens especially, to stop because YOU think it's stupid, isn't cool. We're all responsible for what we put on the this site and you should think about changing your 'sig', because you're indirectly berating the car we all love so much. I can't speak for everybody, but I'd rather someone make use of a rusted POS, before they abandon it all together. And yes, my camaro IS a rusted out sentimental POS but I'm not above driving or trying to fix her up, even more so since she's all I got.

God...can't some people on this site not get all up in arms over a damn opinion?! If for some reason you have a problem with me/my opinions take it to PM and stop jacking other people threads!

100% Agreed. Sorry all, I just don't like to see stuff like Derth's sigblock when I come to visit this site. I love the 3gen's. I do believe they are rare and getting more rare all the time. And you better believe, they are muscle cars in every sense of the term. I personally like the analogy I saw on this site - that the 3gens are the 'tri-fives' (55-57 Chevys) for our generation. I'm still enthralled whenever I look at my Camaro. It truly is a work of modern rolling art. So I can totally relate, when I read and follow the countless threads herein, detailing in painstaking steps, how yet another fan has brought back a historic 3gen Camaro or Firebird from what seemed to be a certain death in a crusher. If a fan wants to revive and rebuild one... well why not?

GND-646: If that Camaro strikes your heart, and you want to make a project out of it to revive it, I say "where there's a will there's a way." You can wait for a nicer one as some have recommended in this thread - and one will likely come along - but if you believe the one before you is the one for you, I say go for it. Price is right. Worst case - you can still sell its parts for more than the price being mentioned.
