What should I expect to see?

Wondering how much difference ill see between my raw base and clear coat, and after we wet sand and buff?

Ive never done it before so I am interested to see before and after pics. Anybody have some?

Painter and I just finished spraying out clear today so assembly and wet sanding is next week then the buff.

Re: What should I expect to see?

You do it right and you will get more of a mirror finish where you could read a paper in the reflection, but you lose some of the depth and lustre to it. Sand and rub one panel and dont do the panel next to it, compare and you should be able to see what I mean.
If its something that you really want to look nice and don't mind the extar time and materials its best to sand the clear and reclear it. The clear will flow (flow so much it can easily run) and look like glass without having to sand and rub so it keeps that deep, deep gloss.

I do have enough to reclear if i wanted to. I guess Ill make that decision after I see how it turns out. So with time Ill decide on that. Thanks man!

Still looking around for pics of buff before and after, just for kicks but can't find anything.

A picture may be worth a thousand word but seeing that in person is priceless. And a lot better.
You can sand and rub the one area and compare it to the next. If you don't like it you can just resand what you rubbed(provided you don't break through to color) along with the rest of it and spray the more clear. Just remember, what you look at that is not sanded and rubbed is what you will see when its recleared, only it will be slicker.

really, it all depends on what brand paint system you use. i use ppg paints and if you spray some of the higher end clears just right, that is the best finish youll get, straight outta the gun. but if its not perfect, wetsanding and buffing may be nessacary to get that nice smooth gloss.

Can't remember the brand I bought, but it ran about $120/gal.

We are wetsanding and buffing because of a few imperfections and to get that perfectly smooth glass look.
