Factory VIN labels replaced?
I am getting ready to put my YearOne 1/4's on and was wondering if the labels on the inside of the original sheet metal should be retained. I am pretty sure they will self-destruct if I attempt to remove them-they are supposed to be matched to the VIN plate. Anybody else worry about these labels?

i would al least cut the sheet metal around the label and keep it for the sake of it. In the future, if these cars are worth anything, that could be useful to have.

Don't know if we can get replacements, but no, they won't be completely destroyed if you remove them. They leave little parts of the adhesive behind that say "GM" , if you remove them nice and slow. I removed mine from my hatch and driver's quarter (only 2 I have, others are LONG gone) because I need to apply Rust Bullet to the bare metal, and I want to put them back so they are readable. Mine are in a plastic bag on a shelf not too far from me.

Re: Factory VIN labels replaced?
I-Car taught us some 20 years ago that transferring any label with a VIN is a $10,000 fine per infraction. Don't know the exact law but it could be found on the net I'm sure. Those little pieces that don't come up is how they tell. That's not a chance I'm willing to take.
