Hi,
How hard is it to replace the stock two needle spedo in a 84 SC with the 145 spedo if you get a whole gauge package?
thanx

Try searching the board for directions, this is a common topic.
Assuming both instrument pods are otherwise the same (ie. not switching idiot lights for gauges), and you don't care about the odometer, you can just pull the old one out and plug the new one right in.

I just replaced my 84 Z28's 85 mph speedo with one from a 88 Iroc 350. Just swapped clusters and haven't had any problems at all. All lights & gages work fine.

I didn't bother with the odometer since the new one read 10,000 miles higher than the old one. I have 184K miles on the old one and the car sat for 6 months.
When I drove the car the other day, the speedo seemed to work just fine. I haven't verified it yet. As far as I know the only time you have to adjust the speedo is if you change the rear end gear ratio. I could be wrong though.
Hope that helps.

You won't have to calabrate the new spedo unless the gear ratio from the old car differs from yours. EXample. If you pull a spedo off an 88 Roc with a gear ratio of 3.73 (just guessing) and you put the spedo in a z28 with a gear ration of 3.08. You will have to get it recalabrated

Ok. I got mine from a 88 iroc 350. Did they come with the 3.73 gears? If so, then I'm ok because my 84 Z28 has 3.73 gears. That might be why mine seems to work fine.
Thanx for the info.

Ok. From what I can gather, the 88 350 came with 3.27 gears. What has to be done to the speedo to recalibrate it?
