hatch motor
last night my electric pull down motor finally went, so im obviously going to have to buy a new one and replace it. in the mean time, what can i use to keep the hatch down? i need to drive the car every day, and i cant have it bouncing around. right now i have wire from the hook at the end of the hatch to what the back of the back seat hooks up too to keep it up. i know that this is a common problem, what can i do? also, where's the best (cheapest/ most reliable) place to get my hatch release?

Re: hatch motor
you can take off the back panel, undo the bolts that hold the hatch motor down there are three of them. Then simply slide it down till the hatch will shut and latch. Takes a few trial and error attempts but its the best thing you can do until you get it fixed. Mine went out a while ago and I found out it wasn't the motor. It was the switches. I took both of them apart and cleaned up the contacts and reassembled and installed them. Works great now. Just remember to adjust it right or the hatch won't open or shut right

Just thought I'd post a link to the Tech Article I wrote years ago on repairing these pull-down units.
As a temporary solution to hold the hatch closed, climb into the hatch and use a ratheting strap from a hole in the hatch to the body below.
Once you've diagnosed the problem, I have all the parts needed to repair them.
