Anyone have a digital gauge unit? How much and where? Comments on them.

I have the Cyberdyne unit that can be bought throught JEGS, i believe (i've had mine for about 2 years, so i really forgot where exacty i bought it). It looks great, especially at night, the only drawback i see, is that heat can screw up the electronics inside the guage pod. My gas guage sometimes reads 00, even when i have a full tank of gas. It'll be like that and then a few moments later it'll switch back to reading the gas.

Do the pods go directly in the positions on the stock gauge clusters? How hard is it? What different senders do I need? About how much did you spend, if you rememeber?

It uses all your stock senders, except the speed. It comes with a speed sender that screws inline with your speedo cable, and you run a wire from that to the dash.

Do a search in the Aftermarket Products board for "digital dash review". There's a review that I wrote about the two main competing digital dashes: Cyberdyne and Nord-Skog (I've had both). There's also a third maker; Dakota Digital, that I haven't had, but it's a little more expensive than the other two. But it looks pretty nice (it's blue rather than red), I just don't like the straight bargraphs.

actually, i have one more question - i can't find either one on summit, and i can only find individual gauges on jegs! also, anyone have pics of the cyberdyne, or their website? I found the one for nord-skog, very nice :-)

i know this is subjective, but what is your suggestion? also, how flimsy is that function switch? thanks!

also, does this thing bolt right in, and then you replace the normal black cover over it, and dispose of the black metal piece and clear lens that is stock?

Somebody has pics of their Cyberdyne dash on the Body/Interior board. I can't post my pics because something's screwy with my ISP.

The function switch is a bit over a quarter inch long (notice the foam protective piece in the picture?), so it's real easy to hurt it; especially during install when you're maneuvering it by the steering wheel and column. Once it's installed, the acrylic cover supports it so it's not as flimsy seeming.

Yup, that's it.

Its not as all easy as that. I had one hell of a time getting mine to work. It is now working but you do have to do some tracking down. You dont simply plug the dash up, you have to locate each sender and wire it in. But it is cool as all get out now that its done. JZA been a great help and now that i've done it im willing to help to. I think dakota digitals you just plug it in.

Aw, you got yours working now? I'm glad to hear it. I wish I could have helped more than I did, but as you know, over email, it's pretty hard.

Duffman If you want a digital unit I know someone selling one. I think he wanted 125 or 150 for it. Let me know and I'll check.
