Re: auto metal direct 4" cowl hood
If you have never driven with a 4in. cowl and if you don't need it to fit a high rise intake and some other goodies than I would reconsider.
Most of the time you see them there their because there necessary.
I would look at a 2in. cowl first like the one in this link for =$ 296.00.
Buying a steel hood is IMO a smart move especially on a primarily DD.. I have the Goodmark 2in steel cowl ( 3in at the rear vent )and the quality and strength of it is amazing.
I found this at Jegs Racing = http://www.jegs.com/i/Auto+Metal+Dir...582-2/10002/-1

Re: auto metal direct 4" cowl hood
Goodmark is a huge company with a great reputation for quality parts. The Goodmark hood I have is heavy and may be made of thicker material than some of the lesser priced hoods. You would have to e-mail each company to find out what gage metal there using and type of metal may play a roll.
Also you’re paying more for the name. Heres there site =

Side note = If you don't have a photo of the bottom of a hood you don't know what you’re getting. Could be anything under there.
