New custom door panels...

Why try to make 4th gen panels fit when you can mod a good set of GTA panels to look similar and give you a 8" sub in each door at the same time...

That's actually just the form. I still need to fiberglass it and wrap it in vinyl. The whole door will end up being one piece of vinyl with the break for the handle and that's it.

I got fed up with several attempts to make a good looking door pod for my 8's so I decided to just wrap the whole door. I'm going to hopefully wrap the passengers side tomorrow and maybe get them both glassed up.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to make any for sale and it's hard to find a good set of GTA molded door panels to use as the backing. The standard pressed cardboard flat doors wouldn't look as good.

Thanks for the compliment, sorry to hear about your thumb.

dude, i still need door panels. my doors have had no panels for two months now, and the rest of my interior is almost done. it would be bodacious if i could find some nice later z-28 panels but it would be even better if you could make a pair of those for sale. help a fellow thirdgenner out please!

Unfortunately I don't have anywhere near enough time to duplicate these for selling. Work and baby keep me busy enough that I'm lucky I'm finding time to do my own car.

For those interested in the cost involved in doing this yourself...

- 2 GTA molded door panels - $26/each on eBay
- 2 yards of Polyester Fleece - $12 at JoAnne Fabrics
- Gallon Polyester Resin - $13 at Boat Owners Warehouse
- 2x4 sheet of 3/4" MDF - $7 at Home Depot
- Satisfaction of building them yourself - PRICELESS!

Besides, since this is being built for show, where would the creativity points be in something that all others have identical of (j/k, I would help out others if I just had the time)

You can also see both panels ready for glassing on the Car Audio board.

Enjoy

hey guys, if anyone is seriously interested in rebuilt door panels, I could do them.

But, I would need your stock panels sent to me to modify, and the cost and time will be alittle bit, depending on materials and finish (vinyl, carpet, etc).

So if anyone is serious, i will do them, and it will also be on a case by case basis, since there are too many variances between the years of 3rd gens, and between firebird to camaro, but plan on the final price to be between $250 and $350 a set + shipping, again, depending on design and choice of materials.

email me if you're interested.

Now that might be a solution to my dilemma. I've never worked with anything like that before but could you explain in more detail how to build it with those materials.

I'm looking to make a door panel somehow with a different inner handle/armrest. I want the most room I can get with a rollbar and the factory ones stick out kinda far. I have power door locks and mirrors so I don't know how I'd remount those. Would this even work for what I'm looking for?
