ASC Tops

I remember I while back on here somebody said that when ASC stopped production one guy bought up all of the left over convertible parts. I remember he had tops for sale. Does anybody have a phone number or email address for this guy? Do you know how much he wants for the tops? I have finally give up on the top that is on my car. Scotch Gaurd helps keep morning dew from soaking into the top but real rain still goes right through. Oh, does anybody know of a car cover that is waterproof. I bought a cover that was supposed to be water resistant for five years and it leaked the first night .

Im guessing the folks you need is ASC/McLaren in Odessa, Florida. I bought a top from them in early September, and I believe it was $375. The top looks identical to the one on the car. I haven't had the time to get it installed yet, but hope to take care of it over christmas.

The email address is: GTE427@aol.com, and their phone# is: 813-926-9662
Very nice to deal with. I dealt with Kat.

Hey 92RS? How waterproof is the top? Can it sit outside in the rain and not get soaked? My current top repels morning dew but in real rain it leaks like crazy. I think I'll get a glass back window, since somebody slashed my plastic one.

I am assuming that you'd have to remove the glass rear window to lower the top. i've seen where you can unzipper it. I can't imagine it being otherwise. You can't fold glass in half. Well, at least not at room temperature.

Its completley water proof.. i have only had the top on for about 6 weeks bu i havnt had any problems with it yet. I will post pics as soon as i can i just bought a digital camera on wed. Its just been rainig out so i havnt had a chance to use it but by wednsday i should have pics.

First what you need is a nice warm day. I wouldn't attempt it myself. I have a local shop I trust and is reasonably priced. BTW
I've just completed my first production run of "flip rods". I named them this for lack of a better term. I can't seem to find a GM p/n for the originals nor an illustration. These rods mount from the frame to the #2 bow. They lift and raise the #2 bow up and back as you lower the top. If you don't lower the top correctly (by lowering the windows first) you will run a good chance of bending or breaking these. Symtoms of broken or bent flip rods is the top folding up short and wanting to hit the top of the back seat. E-mail me if your interested in a pair. Lon

I paid $1040.00 for my top with install. This included weather stripping etc. You really have to know what your doing to get it right I recommend you go to a pro if possible. good luck.

WOW! Sweet car and a nice top install. Are those defroster lines I see an the back window? If so how does that work? The window looks a tad smaller but I would gladly trade some size for the ability to actually see out of it. Does your car stay outside? Mine has to and in heavy downpours in leaks like crazy ( I mean streams of water soaking through the top! ) so if your new top is holding up to that I think I should start saving my money even faster! Did you buy just the top from that place or did you get a new headliner and insulation and all the other pieces too?

Thank you. I just bought the top. my headliner and all that was good the top that was on there before the back window was BADLY ripped. so i had to changed it. and yes those are defroster lines. Im planing on buying the wiring kit for it from a 94 or newer fbody and just using a 92 switch. Its held up to all the rain we've had for the past week or so with out a problem it just beads up on the top. Its a little tricky when taking the top down though. i have to be very carful not to break it. if the glass breaks you need a whole new top. Im planning on tinting it also which will be nice. Ill post some more pics once i get a nice sunny day and i can wash the car.

A defroster cool. So the glass came like that? I'm not sure what you mean about the glass breaking, it says on the website that it unzips, your pic of it going down isn't quite clear enough. Do you have to unzip it and then lay the rest of the top over it? Glad to hear that water just beads up on the top, water just soaks into mine. If I remember right that company sells insulation for our cars, does that go in between the top and the headliner? If so, that is something else missing from my car ( typical ). Thanks again.

when you lay the glass down i sits under the cover like this:

if that helps cool if it doesnt as soon as it stops raining ill put some more pics up for you
