Hey guys I've been trying to get rid of the gap between my hood and front bumper for years but no luck ever, I finally came to the conclusion that maybe the previous owner cut the lip for some odd reason maybe get more air to flow in for the carb, I don't know, can anyone take some pictures of there bumper to confirm this, ive looked online at trans am bumpers and it seems like they don't have that angle type cut in them but rather go straight up, hard to explain hopefully someone can help me out with this thanks
OK, so the hood is in the correct spot.
In your first picture, there are three screws visible. This bracket can slide a little bit. have you loosened all the screws all the way across and try to side it backwards?
There is also a vertical bracket that holds the cover to the bracket, there may be a little bit of adjustment there.
Also the whole latch support could be bent down. or the bumper bracket I said can adjust could be bent
Yes I have it as far back as possible. I was also missing that support bar underneath which I got and installed help raise it up the gap used to be half inch bigger with all the adjustments I've made I can't seem to lose that last half inch, so close,
but does it not look from the side that someone trimmed the top of the bumper cover when i look online at bumper covers i don't see a slant on the end just goes straight up?

You can see it's slanted in these pictures too. Yours looks stock.
I had an accident in my 88 and it bent some stuff and I got a little bit of a hood gap afterwards. I think your brackets are just bent something
Take a look at this seems as if mine has be cut back or is my mind just looking for an excuse, if anyone could take a close up of the same area as mine that would be great, just want to be 100% on this
Your hood is too far back. The headlamp doors should sit with their front edge in line to the fender to bumper line. From what I can see from the quite low quality photos, the edge of your headlamp doors sits further back meaning that the whole headlamp assembly and the hood need to move to the front.

i don't understand what you mean with regards to head light flaps, do you mean they have to be past the line that connect fender to front bumper or in line with it, because as far as I can tell they seem in line with it.
It appears that car has been wrecked in the front before. The passenger headlight door is not lined up with the fender edge and the driver's side head light door is just a bit past the fender edge. The front bumper also appears to be shifted to the right (standing in front) just a little. Also, the gaps around the headlight doors are not the same on both sides. If this were my car, I would remove the hood, headlight assemblies, front bumper and fenders and start over. Take a good look at the front subframe supports under the fenders and the impact bar, you'd be surprised what you'll find when all of that is off.
The funny thing is I have removed everything I done this twice, maybe it was is a collision before I don't know, but from underneath and inside everything seems fine and identical to the drivers side, i did notice that the passenger side head lamp won't go any further forward to meet bumper but I guess I could wiggle it down more with some elbow grease, but i dont think it will help me get the bumper to meet the hood ?

Just from a cursory look from pictures, it would appear that both fenders need to slide back toward the doors. Do you have pictures of gap between fenders and doors and doors to rear jam?
Yes I just took some .the passenger side is exactly the same about 1/4 inch or less of a gap, that is continuous cant take pics of passengers side not much room plus it's snowing outside so yeah lol
From what I can see, your body lines and gaps are not that far off.
Guys, he is asking if someone sanded his nose in this area, causing that huge gap.
That angle (circled) is his reason for questioning. Is it supposed to be that way?

Yes mine also has that. You mentioned that the bumper didn’t have the brace and you installed it yourself. Are you sure it’s installed properly? It has to go behind the bumper not on top. You should have the 3x support strips on the outside. Not sure I am being clear. Perhaps you can send a photo showing the support brace bolted to the bumper?
Raise the center of the front bumper, lower the hood. Should be able to get almost all of that out by adjusting the hood latch, snubbers, and the front bumper cover.
Hey guys so just wanted to update you all on what I did and see what you all think, so as the previous poster mentioned I fiddle around trying to raise the bumper , I ended up using some 1/4 inch pieces of wood to shim the mental bumper holder I'll call it and lowered the hood latch a big more and ended up with this result
