1991 Trans Am Spoiler Help
I just picked up a Trans Am, 1991, and the spoiler is gone...I have been searching through sites, and not sure which spoiler is correct or that would bolt to the stock holes.
Any direction would be awesome! Thanks!

Right or wrong, that is the only one available. Stock ones are extremely brittle at this point in time, so you're probably not even going to be able to re-use an OEM one. I have 4 and they are all cracked in one place or another

Re: 1991 Trans Am Spoiler Help
The most frustrating part of 91-92 are the spoilers and cup holders. I'm in Canada so I can't even have the hawks spoiler shipped to me, and I have yet to find anyone who makes replacement cup holders for our cars. There are plenty of parts cars, but the cup holders are almost always broken, especially the driver side.

Doesn't need to be pretty to be cool! Post it up when you can, I'm sure I'm not the only one here that's interested.

Mine's green too, it's a sharp colour when freshened up. You car looks very solid though and not beaten to hell. A paint job and a spoiler will work wonders

Re: 1991 Trans Am Spoiler Help
Pain't will be one of the last things, but no spoiler looks off to me, so hopefully not too far away...I love the color, so will stick with that when it comes time. I know the original owner, and the guy I got it from he never put it in his name, so on paper I'll be the second owner. I just hope that one day I can make it look as nice as a lot of the cars I have been looking at on here!

That would be pretty sweet if they're still making them. I'm going to send an email and see

Re: 1991 Trans Am Spoiler Help
I have an original spoiler for 91-92, and it's in perfect condition.
It came with a car, and it was placed in the shop about 12 years ago.
It has been sitting on the shelf ever since. So, not all of the originals are brittle and broken.

Re: 1991 Trans Am Spoiler Help
Well I remember getting a fourth gen thinking it was a lot better than my third now I say that about my fifth gen- better than fourth, only time will tell what lasts my fourth gen had over 200K on it and only thing I had to do to the engine was an oil pan gasket at 180-190K So IMO this do make them better. I bet my fourth and 5th gen spoilers will last longer than my third gen did

Re: 1991 Trans Am Spoiler Help
They are just using a different material. The old plastic they used did not last the test of time, but for the day it was what they needed. Part of the problem is just the elements, sunlight and heat are the killer for a part like that. And most people don't have a lot of problems with them until they try and take them off, or they get whacked or something. Another problem is the shape and size of this part. I believe the stock, low rise, base spoiler is the same material, but because of it's shape and size, they don't have the same issues. The 5th-6th gen stuff may last longer, but GM doesn't give a rats *** if it does or not
