Which T-Top weatherstripping

I am in between Fairchild's 8 piece set https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fcd-kg4038 for $272 or the Hawks (in house?) 8 piece set https://www.hawksmotorsports.com/82-...-reproduction/ for $345. Has anyone had experience with either set? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Which T-Top weatherstripping

I bought the Fairchild set but never put it on yet. The Hawks set has the Fairchild part number for the drip edges. So I would think the Hawks kit is just Fairchild but $75 more.

Re: Which T-Top weatherstripping

Is that on the website or something or have you seen that in person? I called them and then said it is a private manufacturer that they go through specifically for them, so it would seem that they are full of b.s.

I am not saying that the Hawks kit is Fairchild, but they are using Fairchild part numbers for the T-Top Drip Rails. So if they are using Fairchild Drip Rails, there is only about 2-3 companies that make the seals. They have to be someones and I doubt Hawks have them "specially made for them".

Also I have never bought anything from Hawks, but have talked to them a couple times to ask a question about a product and was always left not impressed.

I bought the Hawks kit. It's a waste. Arrived torn, and when I did get a good set it doesn't fit that great. I would look at the kit from Soffseal.

Seems like it is a roll of the dice with the different brands. I know i will be super pissed if it sucks lol. Probably be buying soffseal or Fairchild when I get home, whichever is the better deal.

I used soffseal on my 85 Camaro. They were nice. Initially they were pretty thick and hard to get the t-tops latched down. I sold the car a year later so I don't know if they ever got better.

Assuming they didn't leak for the year you had them?

Re: Which T-Top weatherstripping

I used Fairchild for my '91 RS (late build). Seemed to work okay, but I still ended up having to use seam sealer to seal the sides of the t-top bar to the roof to stop water leaks coming from that area, which doesn't look great (this was after following the GM t-top water leak manual to a tee, as far as replacement/installation). I can verify that they do NOT have the built-in drains that my factory seals had though (late 1991/1992 only). Not sure if any brand has those, which I think is kinda dumb. Would have thought that they would have them, as they're supposed to be a premium brand, and it's a very obvious improvement.

So once you fixed the center t-top bar the seals have held up with no leaking, correct? If so I am going to order the Fairchild because they are quite a bit cheaper than soffseal.

No leaks from the t-tops since then. Wish I could say the same for the rest of the car...

Plastic, unless you have an early car (1982-84(?)), and want to look correct.

Re: Which T-Top weatherstripping

Quick update. I ordered the t-top center rail from jegs https://www.jegs.com/i/Golden-Star/1...op+center+rail.... well if have a manufacturing defect that someone else has said they ran into but it was too late as they installed it. Knowing this issue I test fit it on my counter and low and behold the same gap issue. I hope they don't give me grief returning this to them. I'd rather used my rusted one than this one. Next I will be looking at the one from hawks. Much more expensive, I have yet to hear anything bad about theirs. Has anyone had experience with them?

I’ve bought 4 kits so far from Hawks, Jeggs,1A, soffseal, none of them has fit so far, I can’t even get the ttop in! And no chance to even try to latch it down!!!
