Drum-to-Disc Conversion??

Well I've read everything here, And all the Ebay adds, and listened to all the know-it-alls and bought two books on how to hod rod third gen Camaros. I have come to the conclusion that converting to any kind of disc brake rear that is set up with drums, is not possible. No where, not even here, can anyone tell me how to go about it, especially how to remove the drum setup and what I need to do, if anything, to mount anykind of disc setup.

I've got a complete single piston aluminum PBR setup I'd like to install, but I don't see anyway that those drum setups are coming off the axle housing. After I torch them off, what then? Pull the axle out, and weld the new mounting plate to the axle housing?

If there is a book that will tell me the step-by-step, I'll buy it, heck I'll Paypal anyone that walk me through this. I'm surprized this site doesn't cover this......Zclone

I have a 92 Camaro, that has been very meticulously conververted to a Z28 except for the rear end which obviously is still drum.

Forgot to mention that. zclone

Many people have done the swap on this site (you sight consider the search function).

Modify the axel flanges to accept the correct backing plates:

Here's what you need:

Why bother? Just find a disc-brake rear at a wrecking yard, rebuild it and bolt the whole thing in. Much easier than fiddling around with a drum rear trying to make it into something it isn't.
