1LE outer bearing and spindle bolt question
I have the 1LE CD from AndyZ28 and it says to use a larger bearing on the outer, but other sites and brake catalog's say to use the SAME bearing as normal rotors-TIMKEN SET 3. Which one works? Do they both work?
Second question- I got the carriers from Spohn and the bolts that were provided to mount the adapter plate to the stock, modified spindle are not metric 12, they are SAE 7/16-14 thread. I figure I shoud just drill and tap the spindle to this bolt and NOT the M12 bolt like it said on the CD. That is only if you are using factory GM 1LE bolts right?

I did the swap several years ago and found myself in the same pickel that you are: I bought Andy's CD and Spohn's kit only to discover that the bolts were different. In my case, I e-mailed Spohn who replaced with metric. His thoughts were that finding an SAE bit and tap might be easier than finding a metric (which a located without difficulty). At any rate, I'd drill and tap for the SAE bolts and not worry about it.
I can't recall much about the bearings, sorry. Check the following site, if you haven't already:

I brought home a SET3 bearing and the race that was in the 1LE rotor was identical, so I guess that answers my question. I need the set 3 NOT the bigger bearing Andy says to use.

Unless you specified a Metric bolt and tap pattern from Spohn, he'll give you a standard bolt and thread pattern. Reason is that standard bolts are cheaper and easier to locate and buy in bulk. Unless you buy new Metric bolts, just drill and tap your spindles for the 7/16"-14 bolts he supplied. They'll work fine and that's the standard bolt size I use in my stuff. The Metric stuff will only be required in the stuff from "GM" or whoever that already uses that thread.
