Someone please..What is PBR??
I got a 9 bolt rear last week with disc brakes, and Ive been readin up opn em on here and I kep seeing people talking about PBR calipers and such. What exactly does PBR stand for, and how can I tell the difference? I believe that my rear came out of an 86 L69 car (3.70), but I do not know for sure. Is there any definitive way to tell the two types of calipers apart?

The PBR calipers are aluminum if that 9 bolt is out of a 86 L69 trans am you have cast iron calipers and 10 inch roters. I got my 9 bolt from an 86 L69 TA whit the 3.70 gear and switched the brakes off of my 89 L98 2.77 9 bolt. Now I have the biger 11.75 rear brakes and aluminum PBR calipers.

Ok, I was thinkin PBR stood for something, as in a certain brake system setup. Is there any way to tell if they are PBR calipers? I mean it'll say on the caliper itself PBR if they are or not right? Reason Im asking is because the guy I bought the rear from was wanting to build the ultimate hot rod 3rd gen and was into customizing and such, and Im not sure if he swapped the calipers over.
Also, if the brakes are stock from an 86 L69 car, does anyone know if the front brakes off that L69 car would be the same as the fronts on my 89 RS? Im still trying to find the right prop. valve for the new system, and I dont want to put in an adjustable one.

See, now that looks EXACTLY like mine. Another thing thats throwin me off is the e-brake spring. At work when we look up the parts for an 86 rear disc system, it shows a completely different type of spring (shaped like a coil spring), but the spring on my calipers are more of a...."loopty-loop" design.Kinda hard to explain, Ill just have to get some pics up here, or just get off my lazy *** and cross reference some parts numbers.
Really good info as well guys, I really do appreciate it.
----------
ya know, upon further inspection on the 3rd Gen CD, I cannot find a rear disc setup that got my kind of parking lever return spring! This is driving me freakin insane! Ima have to get a pick now and get some of you guys to help me, because going by the paper info my rear brakes do not exist

Pabst Blue Ribbon, us older guys can remember that one..
PBR International Limited
PBR will be cast into the caliper itself.

No, "1LE" style PBRs only came on '89 and up disc rears and continued until '98 when they went to LS1 style rears.

the difference between your post and ebmillers post is that he actually posted some useful information. he came on, made a joke, and then helped the guy out. you, all you did was make a stupid joke, and then leave the guy hanging.
mods, i don't think this is going anywhere

Freakin right! Turns out I DO have the PBRs! Stamped right on em, I had to scrub the hell out of em before I could even see it. I also measured the rotors, and it was over 11.5", so Im startin to wonder what exactly this rear end came off of, cause I doubt it was an 86.
So does anyone know of what trim/model came with the same front brakes as an 89 RS, but also came with PBR rears? Im still havin trouble finding the right prop valve. I read on here that I dont even have to change that out, but that doesnt sound right since Im goin from drum to disc.
As for the "other" discussion on here, he didnt answer my question, but it was just a joke. Some people are like that, and others arent. I could care less because with all of the knowledgable guys on here, I know that my question will be answered in one way or another. Either way, thanks for the info guys! My question was answered regardless, and for that I am satisfied

Call an auto parts store, they can give you a part number...and the rotor.
