front wheel bearing replacement
I'm not sure if this should be the board or the suspension board, but a search showed other bearing questions directed here so i'll do the same. I obviously haven't replaced my front bearings on my camaro ever, as you'll soon understand by the questions. First, I went and got some bearings at pep-boys because i had a gift card, the guy says that there are inner and outter bearings, ok, but he hands me an inner and outer and they are both not coned shape...which is what I thought was used in a 92 camaro front end.
First question, did the guy give me the wrong bearings? Are both the inner and outter bearings disc shaped and look as if they have to be pressed in the hub?
Second question, if he gave me the wrong stuff, what do i ask for so I actually get the right stuff, apparently "front wheel bearings" isn't good enough.
I'm looking to replace the front wheel bearings completely, the service manual (not haynes, the shop manual) doesn't mention needing a press to install new bearings, so I'm kind of lost. The shop manual does mention cone bearings.
Any help would be appreciated... especially pictures so i know if i'm getting the correct part when i go back to return these or get what i'm still missing, if all 3 bearings are required per wheel.

try another store or talk to the manager at least
i have a napa chassis book around here i could give you the part numbers and you can have the store cross them over

Ok I got bearings again. Told the guy, Z28 because my RS has the Z28 suspension package. He gave me BR3 and BR6 bearings. I then got home and read that many stores will sell the ILE bearings when you tell them Z28, the ILE ones will be too big for the hub.
So before i got the wheel off, I went back and got RS bearings, he gave me BR34. They were smaller than the BR3's I was given. I got the wheel off and to my annoyance, the outter bearing in my hub was the larger bearing I originally got when I told them (pepboys) that I had a Z28. So I had to go back and do another exchange and then I was able to get everything back together right.
So my new question is, do the outter bearings differ between the RS (V8) and Z28 in any way besides the ILE package?

Re: front wheel bearing replacement
When using the used race to install the new race place the thin edge of the used race to the edge of the new race. Hammer only 1/4 of the circumference then knock out the used race and work on the next 1/4. This keeps the entire used race from becoming embedded completely and difficult to remove.
