Re: rear end / brake question

1LE is more used to refer to the front brakes I believe since they were 2 piston design. If it's a 1LE. I'd pull the front spindles, calipers, and etc all to resell them.

G92 I believe is the Posi (Limited Slip) rearend. If it's a 9 bolt probably 100-400 depending on the shape. If it's a 10 bolt you can get them for $100 all the time around here at the yard. If it's cheap enough it's always nice to have a spare roller sitting around in case one explodes on you. I have a junk weld'd up 9 bolt in the garage still just for that reason.

The big things I look for when I'm out is 1LE front brakes, does it have a non-ac heater box, does it have the flash light overhead console, does it have aftermarket parts at all, does it have a 9 bolt, or did someone do a LS1 driveshaft swap in it. Other than that I check out the new firebirds/camaros for interior (seats, center console) and LS1 driveshafts. In any of those cases I can buy parts here cheap enough in the yard to double or triple my investment.

Re: rear end / brake question

here is a pic of the rear end in the 89 . Is this just a g92 brake set up? Its definetly not a g92 or 1le car. Any one have any ideas?

The brakes are the typical set-up for an 89+ J65 car. In 89 the rear would be a 9-bolt, 90+ a 10-bolt. Amusingly, the above is often called the performance package or 1LE by parts stores.

Assuming the gears haven't been changed its a 277 posi. Would it be worth getting?

Re: rear end / brake question

If 10 bolt and you wanted the brakes could pull those depending on the cost. Fresh calipers from auto parts store are cheap normally.

If it's a 9 bolt it would be stronger than your 10 bolt, but still not really that desireable because of series and gear.

You choice.
