rear pad recommendation for road racing?

As anyone who road races these cars surely knows, the rear suspension on these cars poses some serious challenges in the brake zones on a road course. I have hawk blacks in the rear right now and they are too aggressive and grabby even when my proportioning valve is fully set to the front.

What are you road racers using for rear pads to prevent brake hop?

Re: rear pad recommendation for road racing?

I cant speak from experience but a lot of the 4th gen guys over on tech use cheap autozone pads(less brake torque) for this very issue and seems to do the trick(although from what i gather its a band-aid fix). I have researched dealing with rear brake hop and that is the best cheap, easy route to go. I plan to try this one i get my car to a track.

Re: rear pad recommendation for road racing?

Yeah, I put some old street pads I had laying around back in. I think they will work. I have done a lot of work to the car since I last ran these pads. When I took the car out, I kept moving the bias more and more to the rear. I can't believe how slippery these pads are compared to the hawk blacks I had.

I am running pfc 01's in the front and street pads in the rear. Not sure when I'm going to the track next.

Brake hop shouldn't have anything to do with the pads. You should not have hop no matter what pads or how hard you are pressing the pedal. This sounds like a suspension issue. Have you changed the rear suspension geometry in any way? Torque arm?
