I've got a 1986 IROC that started life as a 305 TPI car. Its white with T-Tops, power windows and door locks, 4th gen cloth seats and new tires. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes, posi, and a straight body. It is an unfinished project that I need to get rid of. I hurt my back at work and need money out of it.
The good parts:
I dropped in a 350. Casting number ends in I think 0010? 60s-70s block. The heads are 434 casting 305 heads that were worked by Aerohead with 2.02/1.60 valves installed. They are topped with 1.5 ratio aluminum roller rockers and polished tall valve covers. The cam is a .488/.488 lift 292/292 (234/234 @.050) duration summit cam. It has a summit cast crank, summit rods, and summit flat top pistons. Compression somewhere around 9.7:1. Its also got a 7qt oil pan. The engine is topped with an Edelbrock performer RPM intake and an Edelbrock 750 carb. It has a billet distributor with Mallory wires and billet wire looms to make it pretty. It has Hedman longtubes ran back to cheap summit mufflers that dump before the rear axle (A temporary solution as ground clearance is bad)
The transmission is a late model 700R (has electronic speedo output) it seems to be stock. I put on a chrome transmission pan with a drain plug. It has a Daaco non-lockup (I know.... it came with the tranny....) 2800rpm stall converter. I didn't discover that it was a non-lockup converter until after I'd installed it so... it got to stay for the time being.
The fuel tank was dropped and the electronic pump removed, the fuel filter removed and the lines are routed to a Holley mechanical fuel pump and then through an earl's inline filter then into the carb. The pump feed line should probably be re-routed but it works. It is bent out of 3/8" aluminum as are the trans cooler lines.
I have new center caps for the IROC wheels and they are wrapped in new (<100 miles) Kumho Ecsta AST tires. They're not the best tire but they're good for daily driving.
The bad parts:
The body is very straight and has no major rust. It is all surface rust, no through rust or rot or anything similar to it. The only part of the car (including the underside) that has any major rust is the hood, which was never an issue for me because I wanted to replace it, and the battery tray area... It will need paint though. The paint on it isn't the best and the front clip has been replaced and repainted badly due to something prior to me owning it. Whatever it was wasn't very bad.
It will need the sending units for the gauges installed and the gauges will need to be mounted and hooked up. I only have two gauges in the car right now, they are Equus mechanical oil pressure and water temperature gauges. The hood struts work very well but the hatch struts do not. The electric fan is using some stock hardware. It comes on at 235°. It could use some revamping. The car doesn't run hotter than 235 but then again I've only let it idle and taken very short trips in it. (<15 miles.)
It runs strong but the carb probably needs to be rebuilt. I rebuilt it but I didn't let it sit overnight in cleaner only for a couple hours. It runs fine when into the main circuit but the idle circuit seems to give it problems. It runs fine but it has a bit of a miss at idle.
Throttle cable still needs to be replaced as it has the TPI cable in it still, heater needs to be hooked up, windshield wiper motor needs to be re-installed, radio needs to be hooked up, and it needs a headliner.
There are probably things I am forgetting, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, I can get most pictures on request.
Thanks for your interest,
Jared
