Z28 Convertible, 1992, Only 40K miles!
For Sale - 1992 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Convertible, show car quality, beautiful medium quasar blue with black cloth top and glass rear window. Has the 305 TPI engine (biggest engine for factory convertibles) with the rare 5 speed manual transmission. Only 39,994 original miles. All available options including CD player, power windows and door locks, A/C, power steering and more. Have original copies of build sheets, and window sticker. Only 1254 Z-28 convertibles were made in 1992 with less than 200 of those being the factory 5-speed cars. Original Rust-free southern car, professionally repainted and always garaged since I have owned it. Last year for the Third Generation Camaro body style. Looks better than new, no non-factory mods or non GM parts (other than seat covers because they are not available from GM). More pics available on request. Enjoy the Summer cruises and car shows with this really special car! Car cost over $24K new. I have over $17K currently invested in this beauty, will sell for $13,900 firm. Please no tire kickers, serious inquiries only. Call John at 814-746-9756 or main email at engine284@yahoo.com. Car can be seen anytime. Thanks for looking!

Awesome car. There was a blue one her in central Arkansas for over 10 years that a gorgeus blond drove and then she and the car moved away. I always wanted that car. I eventually found a triple black 92 Z28 a few years ago but I always wanted her blue one. It was one of the best looking cars in town. Camaros always had a good blue.
Good luck with the sale.

Two honest questions:
1) If the car is 95% original, how do you have 17k invested?
2) A few months ago I found this exact car (VIN search) upstate. When I emailed the seller the first reply was "my husband died, send me $$$ to hold it for you". What's up?

Re: Z28 Convertible, 1992, Only 40K miles!
As far as the car being for sale elsewhere, thats a sad story of criminal activity that goes unpunished. My pictures from a cars.com ad I had placed were pirated by someone and they fraudulently placed MY car for sale at several different sites for a very low price. Thanks to people like you, i was able to fix that. I actually called the police and they told me that no crime had been committed, so they would not do anything especially since I had the title in hand. I have since had those fraud ads removed and put signatures in my pictures. Guess it just goes to show, be careful sending out cash. Thanks for writing.... John

Hey John
You sound a bit annoyed. I was not being critical, just asking questions. There was obviously more than one person advertising this car and I was jus trying to get to the bottom of it. Your thread reads Pennsylvania, but your name says NY so I thought you may be the fake! Let's hope nobody sent any cash to the scammer. "Original" to me meant 1992, I guess to you it means OEM.
I am a serious buyer, and have been looking for over a year for the right car. Yours is darn close. Is the car in Jamestown or Erie? Google puts me at an 8 hour drive to Jamestown. I am in CT. Your original ad did not mention it has been repainted. Is that recent? Anything else you think I would want to know?
Thanks
Mark

Re: Z28 Convertible, 1992, Only 40K miles!
Hi Mark,
Sorry, I didn't mean it to come out that way, it's all good on my end. I've been dogged about the scammer before, it’s just a sore subject with me and has caused me some grief!
Anyway, I live in Jamestown, NY….my red 88 IROC is in Erie, PA in my storage building and the blue 92 is at my house in Jamestown. The cars are only 40 miles apart, but cross state lines. That’s the reason for the 2 states being listed, sorry for the confusion.
The 92 has funny story with it (which I haven't confirmed, but seems believable). Here's what I've been told by the previous owner. The car was purchased new in Charlotte, NC in mid August of 92 by the owner of Lance Snacks. He stored the car new and unregistered for over 3 years. Story goes that the car was then given to his grandson as a graduation present in 96. The grandson then used it as a toy, he put a trailer hitch on it to tow jet skis to the beach! Apparently when the car had 38,600 miles on it, he burned up the clutch pulling the jet skis out of the water. The car then sat for almost 13 years untouched under a carport until 2008. As we all know, long term UV is a terrible thing for a car. During the storage time, the plastic rear window in the top cracked, the leather seats dried out, the clear-coat peeled, and the car got several dings, dents, and scratches from being a storage shelf. The car was then purchased by the guy I bought it from. He was going to keep it, but then changed his mind for an older Chevelle. I bought the car from him and had it fixed up with a new clutch, new show-quality paint job, a new top with glass rear window, new front and rear seats (still have the original leather seats). Total cost of my investment and repair was around $17K. I have a bunch of “before pictures” for the interested buyer. I have a copy of the original build sheets and a reproduction window sticker. The car cost over $23K new. Hope that explains where I’m at with the car better, let me know if you have any other questions or if you want the “before” pictures. Thanks again…..John

I didn't realize you were selling both of your convertibles. They're both equally nice cars, however I'm partial to the blue one.
Someone is getting a dang nice car here.

Hey Zee! I'm very partial to the blue one too, but it never fails, when I show them side-by-side, I always hear....That blue one is very nice, but it's only a Z28, that red one is a IROC! LOL!! Little do they know....

Re: Z28 Convertible, 1992, Only 40K miles!
I know this is an odd question to be posting in a for sale ad, but I have had my eye on this car for a long time now. Does anyone have any idea of some lenders that might loan this amount for this car? I actually talked to zman a while back, called my bank to get a classic car loan, but they go strictly off of NADA value, not appraised or anything like that. According to NADA, this car is only worth 11k (but if it had heritage package, it would be like 19k, lol go figure) I know zman said it appraised for higher, so I'm wondering if anyone knew of a bank that might go off appraised value. Unfortunately, I'm one of those rare "perfect buyers" who is picky enough to want this exact car. (must be 92, must be convertible, prefer stick, but would have "settled" for auto z28 just because I didnt even know this combo existed, lol) But... I dont have $15k lying around to spend on it. (Have been looking for a car with more miles that would be more affordable)

Re: Z28 Convertible, 1992, Only 40K miles!
It's been awhile since I've checked this thread...sorry, been a busy summer! Yes the car is still FOR SALE as of todays date and I have since lowered the price to $13,900. I was thinking of taking it to the Charlotte Auto Fair this coming weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, but was told by a couple people who go there that it is better to do the spring show. I will be making a video of the car and will have it posted on youtube this week, so check back! Anyway, I hope to do better and check in more often! Phone number and email address is on my first post.....JohnnyT

Oh thanks zman, but I ended up buying a brand new Challenger instead. I swear one day I will have a nice 92 vert to park beside it, but it'll have to wait for now, lol. How sad is it that your car was my DREAM car, and cost $20k less, but it was easier for me to finance the Challenger? lol. Good luck with the sale, she is truly a beautiful car!
