1990 Camaro RS Modified
Sold sold sold!!
Selling my 1990 Camaro RS. Simply looking for a change. Body has about 150 K on it. Engine swapped about 1,500 miles ago. Engine starts and runs smoothly. Handles GREAT! Rides like it is on rails! The car was painted 4 years ago. I have owned this Camaro since 2008. I purchased it in rough shape with plans to replace, upgrade, and modify as much as possible. This car is built to be a nice cruiser and also carve corners on an Auto-x course. There are a lot of suspension mods. The ground effects, spoiler, and grill are from a 91-92 Camaro and meant to look like a Z28. Tires have less than 1,500 miles also.
Here is a list of what has been done...
-SS 4th gen style hood(it is new and unpainted)
-91-92 aero GFX
-Z28 spoiler
-Tail light blackouts included
-Shaved antenna and locks
-91 Z28 rims
-stainless braided fuel lines with AN type fittings
-reupholstered from gray interior to black, 2000 T/A black leather seats, custom door panels
-A-pillar gauge pod
-K40 radar detector (has sensors in front and rear bumpers
- Custom aftermarket gauge cluster
-Grant steering wheel
-RAAM mat sound deadening throughout the interior
-Fiberglass SS style hood mounted( primed) with locking hood pins
-I will include a set of Competition Engineering Weld-on sub frame connectors. (never installed)
Weight Reduction
-Heater, A/C and blower has been deleted
-Windshield wiper and motor is also deleted
-Rear seat has been removed
Engine
5.7 L 350 ready for boost
-custom blower cam
-Vortec heads
-Super Victor intake
-Holley 750 4160 Carb
-HEI distributor
-ARP bolts
-Holley Comp fuel pump
-Hedman long tubes
-Summit X-pipe
-Bullet mufflers
-Mini starter
-2800 stall
-Corvette servo
-TV corrector spring
-RCI fuel cell with welded firewall
-Spohn Wonderbar
-IROC sway bars on the front and back
-Polyurethane bushings
-Strut Tower Bar
-Founders strut towers
-Front KYB struts
-Upgraded front brakes to Dual piston LS1 brakes (from a 2002 Camaro)
-Drilled and slotted front rotors with ceramic pads
-Removed blackout covers and installed Z28 grid style tailights(no cracks). I still do have the black out covers and will include them in the sale.
Known Issues:
Bad remote door lock module(causes battery to drain over extended period of time). This can be bought new for $40. Speedometer cable broken, PARK doesn't work(may need to adjust cable), only rust is on the T top section and is very minimal. There are a couple of chips in the paint (primarily because the hood needs to be adjusted. and one spot where the clear coat flaked off. I will include a container of touch-up paint if you want to make her perfect. Typical dashpad cracks exist. Headliner is starting to peel on the edges. Please look at the pictures for all cosmetic flaws!!!
I have over $10k in receipts. I also have documentation and pictures of the whole project. Feel free to ask me any questions about the car as I have worked on it inside and out! I will not ship the car. It is reliable and starts and runs great. I feel confident you can drive this car long distances. I have listed all known issues to the best of my knowledge. Please feel free to ask me any specific questions! Shoot me a message and I can provide my phone # to talk or my address if you would like to inspect the car. Asking $4500 OBO. Also looking for something different, open to trade for a Miata or potentially other small and fun cars.

Re: 1990 Camaro RS Modified
When I purchased the car the in-tank factory fuel pump was dead. I looked around on TGO for how to change it out and actually stumbled upon a few cars where guys just pulled the whole factory (heavy) tank and plopped in a new (lighter) fuel cell. So since the fuel cell in "in" the car I welded in a steel frame and sheet metal. Along the top is rubber sealing so when the hatch is closed the decklid seals on top of the fuel cell frame. I got the specs for the metal thickness from the NHRA saftey guidelines when you have a fuel cell mounted "in" the car to make sure its 100% safe. People do sometime wonder why I am filling up the back of the car at the gas stations though.

Re: 1990 Camaro RS Modified
Belt size for the serpentine with the AC delete? I can check. I just took a string and wrapped it around the accessories and then measured the string and got a belt a couple inches smaller.

Man, they sure look nice, but I can't imagine I'd have enough headroom with those. I swapped to the Fiero seat rails and picked up about an inch and don't think I could go back.

Re: 1990 Camaro RS Modified
Thanks @ASE doc & @Tuned Performance it's 11 years later, and figuring out my faulty injectors was a big major break through with me being able to keep the car! It's been awhile since I been back here, but yeah I'm back here troubleshooting a different issue now, however I did find a few threads as to what my problem might be. It has to deal with the transmission not shifting till near 4000 rpms when its cold. I'm expecting it to get better when the weather warms up though. Anyways I am hoping you guys are still around. Thanks again.

Re: 1990 Camaro RS Modified
Where are you located, 89GTASC? Did the warmer weather temporarily fix the problem? Or was a different fix required...

Re: 1990 Camaro RS Modified
No warmer weather didn't help. I have been driving it with 3 gears. first thing to go I guess was the torque converter lockup, and now it won't go into 4th. Do wonder if this could be the torque converter.

Re: 1990 Camaro RS Modified
It took us awhile to figure out this problem.. roughly 9 months, the throttle valve in the transmission needed to be reworked with new springs etc. It was stuck.
