Dual batteries will just place a bigger load on your alt, and thats not good if your already having problems. But just because your voltage drops at idle does not mean there is a problem. How bad is it?

Okay, we all know when the bass hits it causes a large voltage drop right? So your already running one cap have you thought about separate caps for each amp? I'm sure you know what a cap does, and that would only make sense. Two 1.5 farads might cure your problem. I've never heard about a higher amp altenator being bad. I know this is a common factory practice if you have a lot of of power accessories.

12V < 14V. All current in a car with the engine running comes from the alternator unless the overall system voltage drops to 12V or below, then the battery helps.
Have you replaced the factory power/ground leads? If not, thats the FIRST thing you need to do. Put 4ga or so from the batt to the alt, battery ground, and batt to starter. Pull the alt and batt and have them tested. If the problem is still there (and very small, short time periods) try adding a capacitor. If the fluctuations are real big.....turn the volume down when you are sitting in traffic!!

hear is an idea i have seen any say yet. try to get a puller for the Alt. that is smaller then stock. when you do that it will make the alt spin faster at an idle. and that will mean more amps going out of the alt. on a stock setup the alt doesn't reallt put out the amp the car needs to run everything. not till you hit about 1,500 to 2,000 RPM. so i think the cheapest way would to get a new pully. you may need a new belt . all has to do with how small the new pully is.
