i got a whine very high pitch from my speakers, gets higher with the increasing rpms.

anyone know how to stop?

Since I don't have Ms. Cleo's phone number handy, you may want to give us some details on your stereo setup.

Generally the symptom you describe is a ground loop issue, but without knowing your setup, it's going to be pretty much impossible to diagnose.

Jim85IROC I just had to laugh when i read that!!!! Any way Yes jim85irac is right, usually it is a ground loop issue.

If you don't have an amplifier, then it's one of 2 problems:

1. The radio ground is junk or...
2. The radio is junk.

My guess is #1. How is the radio wired in? Did you buy a harness adapter or do a hack & slash? Butt-connectors or twist & tape? Assuming that all of your connections are sound, you may need to move the radio ground to a quieter location, like the passenger side dash support. I'd double check your wiring first though.

There’s your problem. Make shore you have a good ground at the HU. Is it there with the tuner only or tuner and CD? So your not using an amp? Jensen has a problem with engine noise and there tuners. Also check the ground at the antenna, although that will usually also have noise with the HVAC blower motor.

Had that problem once. Turned out to be a loose power connection at the cap. Once that was tightened up, the whine went away.

You are supposed to use the same ground for your deck as your amp IIRC. I had spliced my ground into the ground cable for the amps and the amp wire ran directly to the battery. I still had that whine until I soldered the splice...... i didn't do it for a couple of years becasue I always kept the sound loud enough you didn't hear the whine....

Using the same ground for your deck and amp is impractical and in most cases not necessary. If you run a ground all the way to the back of the car to ground it with the amp, unless you use a very large gauge wire, the resistance of the wire will be great enough to introduce a ground loop... which is exactly what you're trying to eliminate in the first place. The key to having a quiet stereo is simply to make good grounds that all have the same potential, and if your equipment is in the same proximity, that's best accomplished by tieing them into the same point. When they are farther apart, it's usually easiest to just make sure that both grounds are clean and very secure so that resistance is minimized. 99.9% of the time, the factory radio ground is sufficient (when wired properly... twist & tape doesn't cut it), and the other .1% of the time, you can usually cure it by running a 14AWG line to the passenger kick panel area.

The quality of the equipment also plays a role in this. It's not uncommon for equipment with cheap power supplies to introduce a nasty ground loop that no amount of re-wiring will fix. Pyramid crossovers are especially notorious for this, mainly because they are too cheap to use a 1:1 transformer to isolate the power in their device.

Isnt there some deal you can buy that cuts out on that noise? I just cant think of the name or where ever it goes but I know I have heard of them.

It's called a ground loop isolator. It will ruin your stereo imaging. It's better to fix the problem than to mask it.
