Hey whats up.. Which one is that?.. they have java disabled here at work, so i cant check to see which model is which. They start at $1600 and go to about $2600. If its the one with the hd, its about $2400-$2600 i believe. I wish i could afford one. If i'm not mistaken, you have to buy the gps unit seperate also.

it's their highest double din with the 30gig hdd, everything is all in one self contained unit. is not satellite radio compatible like it's lesser modelf the 5435 however.

has been pushed back to a late may release now..

The avn5495 is not currently shipping yet, it is expected mid June, and will NOT be sirius ready.

the avn5435 is in stock at alot of dealers and is priced at 1800$ if i remember correctly. Sirius, Mp3, built in Nav, very nice unit, excellent fit and finish.

if I got one with a HDD, I'd want it to NOT have it... so I could just put in a much larger version....

honestly, it's worthless to me without 200Gb+

that's why I'm looking into the pioneer --> carputer cable

i'm not into having a computer in my car and have no need for that much information. i listen to maybe 10 choice cd's in a given year and the radio. with 20gb that's more then 200 some cd's which is plenty. for someone into computers in their car or one who might carry an ipod around i could see wanting to build something more.

All i'd like to see is an Ipod adapter from eclipse, and then they're set! ( I do wish they'd go back to the simpler look of the pre -05 head units, not counting the video pieces.)

Why don't manufacturers just make it easy to put in a bigger hard drive? Then they could charge you for an upgrade of some kind, that I would gladly pay for..

the biggest mistake I've ever seen is the Kenwood Music Keg...

external mp3 HDD that interfaces right up to the headunit... but its ONLY 20 GIGS! if you have an external unit like that, you may as well use a FULL-SIZE 3.5" HDD (cheap as hell) so you can provide a bigger, better, more competitive product!

sometimes I don't get people....

if you look inside the music keg, there is enough room for a big hard drive, but instead they chose the 2.5" hard drives like a creative nomad would have...

they do offer an upgrade but at $3,000 retail for the radio as it sits i doubt many will bother to spend more. those like yourself who truly want something so much larger will find a way to do it cheaper anyhow.

the 5435 breaks 2k..

the pioneer double din is 1500 and the kenwood is 1400.

the eclipse is the only one that is all in one unit, much nicer internals and 3 times the features even on the 5435. there is no comparison. retail is retail though and we all know most don't pay that. the 5495 is probably around 22-2400. all in one self contained unit with the highest preout range available. add up all the other features and it isn't that bad of a price.

i personally wouldn't pay that much but when compared to the other units out there it's much nicer.

the avn5435 is the highest quality unit of its kind. <-- note the period.

the kenwood as of right now doesn't offer an all in one nav unit (that will change in the coming months), the pioneer looks like a 1st grader designed the face, very chunky, and well, pioneerish.

the avn5495 should be a good piece, but it's obviously not for every customer, at that price.

the avn5435 sells for 1900$+ install, the 5495 will be closer to 3k, and WON'T be sirius compatible at the time of release (apparently, eclipse wants you to be able to write any sort of source music that you listen to, to the hard drive, and there are some issues with Sirius being less than willing).

that would be nice huh? i've had mine on order since jan 17th and it keeps getting pushed back. i'm not sure if i should just wait or what but a whole summer with a doulbe din hole in my dash isn't sounding fun.

is this unit a single din, or 1.5?

honestly I like the looks of 1.5, but nothing with real features ever comes out with those specs.

weird... looking at some of those decks, I can't tell if you can actually get turn-by-turn directions to a destination, or if it's just very generic gps navigation?

for me, I could care less about a big, colorful, detailed GPS map. I care more about the actual directions... it would be awesome if lots of decks started coming with these features

I really like the E-iSERV connectivity stuff... where you set up very specific information about your car and speakers and such, then put it on a memory stick, and the stereo runs tests on the information... then you put it back in your pc to see what the stereo did... then it corrects it to make a flawless sound spectrum...

I guess it has a microphone on the headunit like the pioneer?

supposedly it's the same naviagtional unit used in the new lexus and high end toyota models which is suppose to be one of the top navigation setups oem/aftermarket out.

i had the 5435 in the car for moch up but was unable to use the navigation function so i couldn't tell you. one things for sure the unit was outstanding with all the features it had, i hope the 5495 doesn't disappoint... if it ever comes out.

what about those single-din units with BW displays... you upload the route via SD card and it tells you turn left and stuff... I wonder how useful that feature really is... it's on 2 or 3 of the cheaper units.
