radio dosen't work
ever since i replaced my fender my radio hasn't been working right.all we did was lower the antenna on the car and then raised it back up, i can't figure why its not working, i've adjusted it 5 times already.everytime i do it sounds great and all the stations come in when i'm sitting still, then as soon as i start driving it will come in crappy.what could it be. its a 88 trans am with a non electric antenna

Re: radio dosen't work
only thing i can think of is the antenna is not grounding well enough to the bottom side of the fender, is there a thick coat of primer or paint under there?

Re: radio dosen't work
ground sounds suspect, but on the standard automotive antennae plug the inner pin is the ant and the outer is a chassis ground, so theoretically plugging the ant lead into the back of the radio is giving the ant ground, im assuming its a power ant. one possibility is if you replaced your ant because you got into a literal fender bender it may have jarred the ant internals and when in motion some circuit is broken, its a stretch but im just trying to help. never put it past the radio to go out radio to go bad at the perfect time that you think its something else.

Re: radio dosen't work
yes but if you meter a standard antenna before plugging it in to radio, it is grounded. Thats why I think there may be an issue in that fender.

Re: radio dosen't work
yes because they are typically mounted to a metal surface but in the instance of universal(brick style) hidden ants or a lot of luxury grid style ants they don't do not ground. if an ant doesn't ground anywhere other than the radio it will still get reception just fine, as long as the radio is properly grounded
