Help needed with amp choice.

Needed most inexpensive amp that will get the job done.

I already have an ultra linear amp that I am running to my speakers. It is a 4channelx720RMS.
But I need an amp for my subs;
2- 12" power acoutik FUBARs
1800 watts power handling
800 Watts RMS
200 oz. magnet
2Ħħ BASV voice coil
dual 4ohm voice coil
SPL 91 dB
Fs: 36 Hz
Vas: 1.91 cu.ft.
Qms: 5.71 ? Qes: 0.502 ? Qts: 0.462
Xmax: 0.4"
Sealed box: 1.2 cu. Ft.
Ported box: 2 cu.. Ft.
Tuning: 40Hz
Port Size: 4Ħħ(dia)x8.75Ħħ(length)
# of ports:1
Mounting Depth: 6.25Ħħ

I don't know too much about audio so I need your help. Also I'm needing a good flip out DVD player. All input will be great. The cheaper the better

Re: Help needed with amp choice.

Budget for amp or amount of $$ you're willing to spend?

Are the subs SVC or DVC 4 or 2 ohm?

Re: Help needed with amp choice.

Both of these come with wiring kit as an added bonus.

I prefer the Brutus, but both are good 1 ohm stable amps.

Re: Help needed with amp choice.

Alright so can you explain ohm to me? I know it is electrical resistance but how does this play into chosing a correct amp? Since my subs are 4ohm do I need a 4ohm amp?

As each sub is 4 ohm dual voice coil, when you wire them, you would end up with a 2 ohm final load. Since you have two subs and each one is 2 ohm, the final load for both subs is 1 ohm.

Therefore, you need an amp that is 1 ohm stable and provide enough watts to power the subs. Each sub is 800 watts RMS, times two means ideally you should run a 1600 watt amp or close to 1600 watts (the hifonics is powerful enough...trust me).

If you buy a 2 ohm stable amp. You can't run a 1 ohm load through or the amp will blow (and smell bad...I mean REAL bad).

The amps I recommended are class D amps. The advantage of class D is it requires less power (amperage) from the electrical system (ie less headlight dimming).
