wiring up pioneer x920bt dimmer control?
hey all,
so i just got around to wiring up my pioneer avic-x920bt and it works awesome! the only thing i didn't figure out was the light dimming wiring. on the radio side there is one orange wire for the dimmer, and on the car harness side there are two wires (one gray, one brown) for the dimmer. i tried both wires separately and together and the radio didn't dim. why?
Thanks!

You usually have to turn the dimming feature on.
Use the brown wire, this is 12V when ever the parking lights are one, the grey wire changes voltage based on where the dimmer setting is (This controls the cluster and heater control brightness). The Pioneer has two settings for dimmer, full bright and less bright. If the grey wire is used the Pioneer will switch back to full bright if the dimmer control is lowered enough.
Don't tie the grey and brown wires together, this will disable the ability to dim the cluster and heater lights, and could possibly cause the dimmer itself to be damaged.

Nice suggestion you have received dear. I'm new to this forum and suffering from a problem like this. I'll try it and tell it after that it has been solved or not.
