Well, as with any sub, the right kind of box with the right amount of airspace is critcal. Unless you want to wake up the whole neighborhood, one 10" should be sufficient.

I've never done just 1 10", but I have done single 12" setups that were awesome. One of them I did was a Kicker Comp 12 (About 5 years ago) and a clarion a600 amp, and it would beat my 2 kicker 12's with a Punch 150 (all old stuff).

Right now, I'm running a single Kicker Solo-baric 12, pushing it with a Kicker DX700, and it is way too much (Just the way I like it!)

A good single sub setup is awesome when done right, because it proves you can do more with less!

Added dual elec fans.
145 MPH IROC Speedo
Building 430 HP 350
using primarily GMPP parts.
Block is in shop!

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

I myself am running a single 10" sub, it's a Pioneer TS-W253C. Powered by a jensen amp. I am running 150 Watts RMS, and about 300 Peak. It thumps perty hard. Dosn't shake peoples houses or anything. But if your not looking for the kind of bass that can be felt from a mile away. This is the way to go. In my car, this single sub makes my Radar Detector on the windshield bonce. Not to mention if you are doing this on a budget, it's great. The sub costed me $69.99
The amp was $199.99 It's the 4 channel amp. I am running my rear 6X9's with it, and bridging 2 channels for the sub (3 channel) mode. It has a built-in crossover But i love it. My 2 cents
