Speakers sound terrible

I have tried several speaker setups (all freebies that were known good) in the dash of my t/a. They all sound terrible and flat. Any type of slight bass and they start to crackle up. Is it just the size of these speakers? I even rewired the fronts and that didn't work. I have also tried a few different decks with the same result.

4x6's just play the highs like tweets basically even if you get decent ones. there are a few on here putting 6.5s in the door/kick/or dash but none are a simple mod
