Doing the same thing as you...
Here is most of what you need...
600 CFM carb -Holley 1460 or Edelbrock 1406
dual plane manifold
Mallory Carb bypass regulator
and some way to lock up the Torque Converter.

I'd also get a good distributor with an adjustable vacuum advance

i recommend the edelbrock 1405 manual choke. no future problems when choke thermostats go bad. i also recommend edelbrock performer intake (get the square bore setup or make sure you use the spreadbore to squarebore adaptor if you don't for more continuous mixture flow. I started my conversion by buying a set of hedman headers from jegs- the $100.00 variety for 82-92 f-bodies, nothing fancy. Then I deleted a/c, smog, emissions, a.i.r. injection, egr, etc. If you go with headers, wrap them first, then paint them with ceramic based high temp paint ( I didn't do this first, and had to go back and re-do it...but it made a world of difference). I already had my intake on. Then I went to the local speed shop and got my e-brock 600 carb, holley adj. fuel pressure reg., and bottom of the line somewhat performance hei distributor ( that's all you need bec ause you can always upgrade it in the future by change the weights, adding an adjustable vac. advance, etc.). Then I ordered some side pipes from j.c. whitney for exhaust (cheap, true dual, easy to hook up, no cats). Left the computer in the car, but the only thing it is controlling is the fans. She's running beautifully right now, too beautifull. now she needs a cam, but i think some 1.6 roller rockers will suffice for now. Anyway, you can do all of this in one weekend if you order what you need to order first. One last piece of advice, splurge and get the locking header bolts, and if and when you go with side pipes from j.c. whitney, go with the 58 inch pipes, and when htey asked me what car they were for I said '72 camaro (pre-emissions-no epa hassel).

There's a tech article on this, on the main page. That should answer most of your questions.
I'm doing this swap (started it already), and I'll report back with any problems I have.
