tbi to carb swappers: need help!
well, i converted from tbi to carb about a year ago. kept everything stock (such as lines, ecu's still connected for fuel, etc) and went over to carb. was running great until a couple weeks ago.
my setup is as follows: sbc 400, mallory regulator (the correct one, w/ return), holley 600, mallory super coil, 2 year old ac delco fuel pump, in cap distro, and everything else should be stock (at least fuel/spark wise).
beginning a couple weeks back, i had problems starting the car. i thought it was only when it rained, but its happened a couple times on regular days too. thinking it was the rain, i replaced the cap and rotor (they were pretty bad when i checked em out). unfortunately, as i found out trying to go to work, that wasnt the problem.
i thought it may be the pump, but i hotwired the pump (using the ALDL port under the dash), and it seemed to work. i could hear a noise coming from the tank and it was pressurized when i took of the gas cap.
does anyone know what could be causing this? the starter cranks, just that it wont turn over. i'm gonna check to see if the plugs are getting spark tonight/tomorrow, but after that, i'm kinda lost on what's causing this. stupid gremlins.......

Check to see what kind of fuel pressure you getting as well, and see if your plugs are fouled. If its turning over, getting fuel, and getting spark then it should start. So check for spark and fuel pressure and get back to us.

so, seeing i had half a day of class and work at 4, i was hoping to do some testing. as usual. the car started and ran perfect. so like i said, this is kinda perplexing.
when it runs, it runs like nothing is wrong. when it doesnt, it just cranks.

Two words: Ignition Module. I am willing to bet that this is your culprit. It costs like $12 go get a new one and your problem will most likely be solved.

thats one thought i had as well. it just seems to inconsistant with what a bad module would do. usually they go bad after they've warmed up for 5-15 min. but thanks for the suggestion (might give me a reason to put in a performance one....)
