you have an edelbrock RPM intake, and you're using the stock cc q-jet? Then that's probably a spreadbore style intake, unless you've got an adapter.
Is there a problem with the stock q-jet? I don't think you'd gain much going to a new edelbrock.

Let me put my flame suit on first ok....holley/demon carbs if you don't have to worry about emissions. All you are gonna get from a CC q-jet is passing emissions and a little more mpg.

From what I read, a 600 cfm ought to feed it enough, but wait for more words from the experts. If they say it's enough, the Edelbrock EDL-1405 can be had brand new at Pep Boys for $249 with a $20 rebate, and the 1406 can be had for $279 with $20 rebate (the 1406 has electric choke, but it can also be added later to the 1405 for about $60).
If they say a 750, Pep boys again has the EDL 1407 for $279 (manual choke) with same $20 rebate (and the same $60 electric choke kit will attach). Rebates good until May sometime - check out their ads. If you don't have a Pep Boys anywhere close, other stores aren't much more - but Pep Boys has the deal right now because of the rebates.

Why not use the q-jet? It's rated at like 750 CFM which is plenty for your car. With a little jetting, rods, and adjustment of the air valve, it should perform great and save you a little gas $$.

600 CFMS is definitely on the low side for a 355 if you are going to rev it at all. I ran the Edelbrock 750 on my 327 before I went EFI on it. I switched down to a 600 and lost ET and MPH, the 750 was definitely needed since I spin 6500+ rpms.
