I don't get that logic, seafoam is bad cause his friend was an idiot and didn't follow the direction on the can.

yeah i nromally bypass the booster line and go straight into my throttle body, just pop off the air cleaner, i wont be able to get away with that too much longer tho after my tpi swap lol

Yep, its all seafoam's fault.
try reading thurmy posts again, i use seafoam regularly, he doesnt, he pured an ENTIRE can in his crank case and decided to beat the **** out of his throttle, and the crank siezed i never bad mouthed seafoam once or said it was their "fault", he was the re-re that jacked it up, not the product. There was no other reason it would have siezed out of nowhere, he just over used the product and ended up kicking himself in the teeth for it

wow ouch thats what he did?!?!?! yep that'll hurt it lol

on a positive note i changed my oil today since i put the seafoam in last week . . . it was black as satan's heart!!!! put in a new fram filter and some 5w30 mobil oil and wow the car feels like it accelerates like a whole new car! and my oil pressure is higher than it's ever been

My 92 has been pinging when it's really hot outside and I'm driving up the mountain. Just filled up the tank this morning, and put a can of Seafoam in the gas.

Dumped a little less than half a can in the oil, let it warm up, and put the other half in the brake booster line to let it sit for 25 minutes. Got a nice cloud of grey smoke on startup, and it smoked a little ways down the street when I romped on it, but nothing too bad. I'll be putting at least 100 miles on the Seafoamed oil before I change it, for sure.

First time I did this, about 7 years ago when I got the car, smoke was almost black. It also had a huge plume that lasted a good 3 or 4 minute drive. The car had 112k or 122k, can't remember which. It has 155k now.

It already made a big difference in idle quality. I'm hoping it will quiet my lifters down a little after the oil change. They've been sounding noisy at higher rpm lately. I'll report back in a few days after I've seen the old oil.

I see the AC Delco's at all the Autozone's here in the Valley now, and cost only like $1.50 more. They are all metal inside. Less prone to failure, although I don't really worry about that anyways. I just like them because they last longer, and flow better.

which plugs and wires you goin with for the replace after using the seafoam?

I've been noticing some heavy misfiring out of the engine that I thought was because of the leaner plugs I had in the carb, but even after putting the original 65's back into the carb yesterday and still having misfiring I thought about doing the SeaFoam treatment. I already put a can into the fuel tank and drive it abut 30miles already, probably going to be at least another 60 at least before I can put any through the carb. I am still wondering though on which way would be the best way to clean the bottom of the carb since I noticed it was already pretty dirty. Pouring it through the body of the carb? Or using a IV drip through my modified nitrous plate??

use the vacuum hose that comes from the drivers side that goes to top of the engine

If I use the nitrous plate it is certain to be evenly dispersed between all the cylinders, plus if I flip it upside down I might be able to get it to spray directly on the bottom of the carb to get it to clean up.

In the old days we poured gumout in the carb to clean the carb, and intake out. We called it a "dealer tune". I would like to know what seafoam has in that's different than gumout..

We got plenty of smoke with the gumout. Lots of fun! I guess it cleaned the varnish out of the carb, and carbon out of the intake. I'd like to try the seafoam, but I wanna know what the benefit is before spending 8 bucks.

Seafoam works. Gumout carb cleaner may work too. At least you are doing something. I use Gumout's "Regain" cleaner in all my cars for a maintenance dose. I will still allways Dual-seafoam any new car I buy.

By dual I mean a can in gas tank, and a can of deep-creep sprayed directly in the intake. Deep-creep is seafoam in an aerosol can.

My concern is using it in my crankcase. During my oil change intervals, my LG4's oil stays nice and clean for a long time, By 2500 miles it is still good, but I change it anyway. I don't wanna clot any small passage ways by loosening up any hidden sludge. I would like to give it a try though, but I am concerned.

I share that concern. I have never put it in my crankcase. I did a test on my truck with a product called AutoRx with very pleasing results. That being said I know how my truck was treated. My cars oil though was never abused. I talked to previous owners and I trust that everything is ok.

Whatever you do, and this is important, follow the manufactures instructions to the letter. If they say don't drive on it, don't drive on it. If it says no more than 500 miles, then be making plans to change your oil when you start getting close. Use the right oil/filter if it says to.

I'll play this game as well....

On my daily driver (2002 Impala-121,xxx miles at the time) back in March, I slowly poured 2/3 can of seafoam into the brake booster vacuum line that goes directly to the manifold. While I had someone hit the accelerator to keep her from dying. The neighborhood begin to fill with white smoke and it turned out to be a very non-windy day . I poured it a bit faster to completely stall her and waited for about 20 mins. We took her out for a spin and noticed the smoke trailing behind us for about 1/4 mile, at which the car was feeling a bit rough and sluggish. I decided to really step on it and wow, what a difference! About 2 minutes of driving harder than usual the sluggishness and smoke had stopped, but I did feel an increase in overall performance. Later that day, I did happen to pour about 4 oz into the crankcase, but I took great care not to run her rough and performed an oil change 2 weeks (about 550 miles later).

As far as the firebird is concerned, I've only put seafoam in the gas tank, which did cause wrenched smelling white smoke to blow out the exhaust for a good 5 minutes. As far as improvement is concerned, I haven't taken the bird out for a drive since we haven't put her through emissions yet and the carb needs to be adjusted since I had it rebuilt.

Definitely resurrecting this thread... but I have only been using Seafoam in my gas tank and I'd like to try it out through the brake booster as well.

Where's the brake booster on an 87 305 TPI? Pics? General instructions? Thanks!

Here is a pic from online of a booster. Pull the rubber hose off here and suck up the seafoam. I pour the seafoam in a cup and let it suck it up that way. Much easier.

I ran it through my 01 5.3 and it runs much better. Just make sure you clean the throttle plate too, it'll idle better.

So, I took the plunge this weekend and tried a can of it in my 83 Z28. Car is pretty much all original. Put 1/2 the can in the brake booster line, 1/4 can into the carb directly, then the last 1/4 into the gas tank. Didnt stall it out like some guys do, just turned the car off like it says on the bottle. Waited the 10 minutes and restarted. No smoke, so I gave it a little throttle and saw something. Took off down the road and left a James Bond style smokescreen behind me. I made sure I went out to a deserted area in town (200 square miles of unpopulated streets without a single house is pretty deserted wouldnt you say?) Ran it hard for about 10 minutes and the smoke stopped.

Noticed it had a little more pep and quicker throttle response no matter the cruising speed. I chalked it up to potential placebo effect and it may be all in my mind. This morning, started the car with no drama. Drive to work felt a little more "brisk" Car seemed to respond to the slightest touch of the pedal. The car also used to shake pretty bad when turning on the AC, that shake has smoothed out dramatically (the idle kickup didnt seem to be working correctly). Im going to wait to see how the MPGs calculate out to see if anything was gained in that respect, at least its a hard number I can compare without the seat of my pants. But so far it feels even better than it did, which is saying a lot because the car ran like a champ before I used it.
