How to test for fuel blockage
On an '87 CCC Q-jet 305 w/ return-line-equipped mech. pump only (car was not factory equipped with aux. elec. pump,)
How do you test to see where fuel blockage is occuring?
The car cruises around fine and strong up to 30mph or so. If you get into it 35mph, it dies but can then be restarted fairly easily, albeit with some cranking involved.
I believe I'll put a gauge tee'd into the pump to carb line (down low by the pump where it's rubber-line) and if that pressure dies off while driving, then...
I'm thinking a tee spliced into the feed line at the pump (at the end of the line from the tank) with a gauge placed there should indicate blockage at the sending unit effectively.
Thoughts?
