Re: question about the rear spoiler

When you open the trunk Look up at the top of the lid & you will see like 4 or 5 black rubber stoppers. Just pry them off & the bolts are there.

Re: question about the rear spoiler

90-92 also has a single screw on each outer end of the spoiler. That screw mounts to a L-shaped bracket that slips beneath a bracket that is pop-riveted to the trunk lid.

Re: question about the rear spoiler

LOL, my "screws" were pop rivets.

I had 4 bolts on the under side of the deck.
2 pop rivets in each end.
Then the back was stuck down with 3 strips of double sided tape.

Re: question about the rear spoiler

i actually dont have bolts there...i did find what was holding it on...looks like someone put screws in the small side of the front of the spoiler and then in the bottom rear? they were filled and whatnot but i just so happen to see one that wasent very good. anybody else come this way?

Re: question about the rear spoiler

What you should find are gray molded plastic bases that are glued to the spoiler with what looks like hot-melt glue. Molded into the plastic bases are a threaded metal stud. As I recall there were nuts with shouldered washers that thread onto the studs. The problem is with age the plastic cracks and the studs come free of it, so nothing is attaching the spoiler. What you're finding is a prior owners attempt to repair them.

Have you considering marketing a spoiler repair kit? I've been eyeing my spoiler since I pulled it for paint. All the mounts are no longer attached. I guess the best way to reinstall them would be fiberglass or body panel adhesive..... Just haven't had the initiative to mess with it.
