The top functions well, but I think it could function better, the car is an 88 ASC IROC, I can tell that there are things wrong, but need some pics of the RIGHT way that the top goes together, before I can go about fixing it.
Heres some pics:
This is the bottom of the rear of the top, the part that latches down to the car. I assume that theres supposed to be some sort of Gasket, or seal here?
This is on the passenger side of the rear of the top, where most of the folding mechanism is housed, there are two threaded holes here, with nothing threaded into them.
Around the same part of the previous picture, Is this supposed to be threaded in further?
And there is one of these on both sides of the top, right behind the windows, I cant find where they go, but they seem to serve a purpose.
If anyone has pictures of these areas on their vert that are the way they're supposed to be, I'de be grateful, Thanks!
oh man why do you have a hold on top of the door ?? I would go take some pics of mine but it is RAININg bad outsie and i have it covered .. I will take pics tomorrow of the sections your asking if the weather is good.

sorry I meant to say "HOLe" on the top side of your door on the last pic... if you go straight up from the key hole there is a hole on your door .. strange. BUT hey its still Raining down here and its is Cold !!!! burrrr I mean its cold for us tropical people .. tomorrow is my last day at work then I am off .. I will get you some more pics if you want .. or if you are satisfied with the member before me on his pics.. let me know
Thanks for the pics, but it looks different than mine?
I tightened that bolt down further, it was loose, and wobbly and would have eventually fallen out.
I noticed on my 2nd picture that the rear bow that runs across the rear window, was bolted up too high, only utilizing one bolth hole, so I took that bolt down, and slid it down. I think I am going to have to find a vert locally so I can scavenge bolts and seals and stuff off of it...
The first pic does show a missing seal....I bought mine at Steele Rubber in NC for around $120, I think Hawks has them too, but they may be higher. My top is brand new and works great, I'll get you some photos of the areas you need, just let me know.
yeah you will probably have to drill and heli coil the pivot bolt mine did that too but I used different bolts and then found someone that would pat the top and got the side pieces but my car has sat for 6 years now and I still have those side pieces in the box.
Cool, thanks for the pictures. Ive seen another earlier camaro vert (86) that also didnt have that spring or little bracket on the bolt, I wonder if thats just a later vert model part? Ive got to see if my strap goes to that point, I need to find another vert at a u-pull it so I can scavenge all that I need.
hmmmm, my pic links went down...are they working now? I think there are differences between 1987 (your top) and mine (1992), but hopefully that helps ....John

ive looked mine over twice and i cant find that place where that strap connects i'm thinking my top may have either been replaced or mine goes to a diff location than urs z thanks for the pic sry for the hijack
No problem...that's what we are here for....I wish I could get better pics, they are hard to see with the headliner in. There is a top difference in the pre 90 cars, I guess the tops are the same for the 90-93. Good luck and let me know if you need any other pics
